Xiyao and I arrived in the company building to attend a meeting with our boss.
Upon arrival, it wasn't the usual format of a typical meeting. Instead of a long table with chairs arranged side by side, there was a single stool with a scale placed right beside.
We saw CEO Lin standing beside the scale. The other two girls, Li Mo and Zhu Tangsui with him.
"Great, everyone's here," CEO Lin said with a slight sigh.
Feng Xiyao grabbed my sleeve and gestured to the back of the room. Probably 10 people were seated down with pens and note pads. Oh no...it was that kind of meeting.
"Girls, we need to take your most recent weight to add on your personal information documents," I heard someone say.
I saw as Zhu Tangsui step on the scale, then Li Mo, then Xiyao. They all took notes and their weight fell in the same category, 42kg - 45kg.
"C'mon Xia Li, it's your turn," CEO Lin demanded.
I nodded and stepped on the scale, praying that I didn't gain any extra weight. The scale started to go up, first passing the 40kg mark, then the 42kg mark, then the 45kg mark and finally decided on 48kg.
I looked around the room as everyone stared in disappointment. Xiyao didn't care about my weight gain, she was just worried about what CEO Lin might say...my thoughts exactly.
"Xia Li, you can't enter the competition with this ponderous weight...you'll ruin the company name! You'll have to drop down to 45kg, best if it's 42kg. If not, I won't let you enter the competition," CEO Lin scolded.
"I'm sorry...I promise I will," I whispered. I looked down at the scale as it kept shifting between 48kg and 48.2kg. It was like the scale was mocking me.
"Take the rest of the day off," CEO Lin said. "And Xia Li, lose some weight," he added.
I could feel all eyes on myself. I knew the people in the back weren't as cold hearted as CEO Lin. I knew they wanted to say something...but what can I say. CEO Lin might not have the kindest heart, but he paid well...
