08 - Orange juice

Marinette was on her way to meet Kagami for orange juice.

Apparently she wanted to talk, and the Marinette couldn't help but feel nervous.

What if they were all wrong and she was still dating Adrien? And she somehow found out that Marinette's feelings never went away and maybe she thinks that she is trying to steal Adrien away from her?! Oh God, that'd be a total disaster!

She stopped her tracks when he witnessed Kagami already sitting on a table with two glasses of orange juice.

It's going to be fine! Just go to her and... talk!

Marinette resumed her walk, reaching the table Kagami was sitting on.

"Hi."

"Good morning Marinette. Nice to see you again."

Marinette let out a nervous giggle as she sat on the chair in front of Kagami. "Yeaah! Very very nice to see you too, Kagami. How are you?"

"I'm good. Thanks for asking. And you?" Kagami asked the designer with a small smile on her face.

"I uh well good too! I mean the same as you! Never been better haha!" She awkwardly responded, giving her a thumbs up.

"That's good to hear."

"Yeaahh! Super!"

The fencer hummed in response. She set her elbows on the table, and leaned her chin against her palms.

"How are things between you and Luka?"

Marinette's eyes widened in surprise.

"Well um.. we.. decided to stay friends. Because.. " She paused, not sure how to continue.

Tell her the truth or hide it?

But unknowingly to her, Kagami already knew. In fact, Luka and her had discussed this the week before this one. It was so obvious that Marinette and Adrien were head over heels for each other, and that they would never move on. So both Kagami and Luka had agreed to stop seeing them, since it was probably for the better.

"..I wasn't really loyal to him?"

"Because you still had feelings for Adrien."

"Yeah. Wait. No! I didn't mean-"

Kagami gestured her hand in front of Marinette's face as a sign to stop talking. Marinette immediately stopped and gaped at her, anxiously awaiting for what she was about to say next.

"I know how much you like Adrien, Marinette. It's so obvious, anyone can see it except him."

"I-"

"Wait, I didn't finish."

Marinette closed her mouth and nodded.

"We broke up too. You know why?" Kagami's hand reached for Marinette's shoulder.

Marinette eyed at the hand before looking back at her friend in front of her, shaking her head in response.

Then she said something unexpected. Something that shattered both girls.

"Because he's in love with someone else."

Kagami removed the hand from Marinette's shoulder and looked away, sadness clouded her features.

Marinette's mouth gaped wide, and she gasped.

Her eyes were suddenly glossy, as she was lost in thought.

Adrien was in love with someone? It wasn't her, was she? No,no. It can't be her.

Who's he in love with??

But she didn't know if  she was sad because she felt pity for Kagami or because Adrien is in love with someone else.

She thought that girl he really liked was Kagami.

Marinette didn't know how to feel about this.

"I'm.. really sorry to hear that.." She tried to sound not too broke.

Kagami turned her glance back at Marinette, but surprisingly, with a grin.

"It's okay... This led me to realise that.. there's someone else that makes me happier."

Marinette blinked at her, wiping the tear that fell from her eye.

"You found someone else?"

"Yes. He really is something else." She said with a lovesick expression plastered on her face.

"Who?"

"I don't think you know him. But we should have a double date soon."

The secret superheroine raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Double date?"

Her friend just smirked in response and shrugged, taking a sip from the orange juice.

'Both oblivious. They're so made for each other.' Kagami thought.
