The amount of times he had been shoved into that one single locker had to be beyond infinity.

Not only was it humiliating - he wasn't able to fight back because it was his own fucking brother. His own damn brother who would torment him the moment they crossed paths in the hallway.

Killua was growing sick of it. Milluki needed to fuck off. School was shit enough - he didn't need to deal with even more problems. Not to mention his mother was on his ass about his grades. The semester was nearly up - he needed two of his classes to be brought up to perfect As.

He was just about to stalk down the hallway when a foot outstretched and tripped him. A chorus of laughter filled his ears.

The sapphire eyed teenager grit his teeth aggressively, willing himself to remain calm as he began to gather his books. Keep it together - the day is nearly over anyway.

But it wasn't almost over. First period hadn't even fucking started yet.

His hands aggressively reached for the last book, ready to snap the next person's ankles who dared kick his stuff away, before suddenly he was face to face with Gon, a "friend" he had met during his third period.

"Hey Killua!" The dark haired boy chirped as enthusiastically as always, outstretching a hand and pulling him off the floor. "Are you okay? That wasn't very nice of your brother."

Killua blinked twice at him, taking in his unkempt hair, his warm brown eyes, and the slightly concerned expression dawned on his face. He was holding out the book Killua was reaching for with one hand, seeming to be saying words Killua wasn't exactly quite focused enough to hear.

"Killua, helloooo. Are you good?"

Only then did the other boy realize he was spacing out. A sheepish smile dawned on his lips. "I'm sorry, Gon. I was spacing out. Come on, let's go to the library."

Now normally Killua would have preferred to have just gone to the lunchroom or hangout in the bathroom, but the library worked just fine. It was normally not that crowded - being a freshman, nobody really cared that much about books anymore. Well, at least Killua certainly didn't.

He'd much rather skateboard than stay cooped inside reading. Let alone, most of the books he read never captured his attention.

Nonetheless, he sighed and trudged up the stairs with his friend talking faster than an airplane taking off skipping behind him. Still, he had the heart enough to somewhat listen.

"—And then Aunt Mito fell in. We were laughing for days," Gon finished his story with a smile, strutting behind Killua after the latter pushed the doors open. "Hey Kurapika!"

The golden haired male glanced up from the book in his lap the moment his name was called, raising an eyebrow. "Hello, Gon, Killua."

"Sup," Killua nodded in return as he perched on one of the tables. "Man, I'm really not in the mood to go to class today. Semester is ending so damn quick."

"Agreed," Kurapika mused from across them, eyes flickering back to his book. "Better get those grades up."

Gon tilted his head at him. "Your grades are low? Well, if you need help, I'd be glad to do whatever you need if it will help!"

Killua blinked twice. "Thank you for the offer, but no, I think I'm good. Besides, it's only a few classes I need to bring up anyway. How are yours?"

"My grades are fine as they are. What say we have a study night at my place? I know one of our classes has an upcoming test," Gon continued, mindless of the polite decline.

Killua snorted. "Fine by me. I don't mind hanging out." Just as he finished the sentence, the bell rang.

"Great!" Gon beamed, leaning over to smooch Killua's cheek playfully with a laugh. He grabbed the other boy's hand. "Come on! Class is starting!" Without another word, he began to run out of the doors, dragging the startled boy with him.

Killua, whose cheeks had turned a deep shade of scarlet, was more caught off guard rather than anything else. They were halfway down the stairs when the realization kicked in. "I—Gon! My stuff!"

A/N: Decided to try a more modern AU for the fun of it.
