Chapter 01: Modern Day

DuoXKouga: Hello, everyone! I am glad to be back with a new chapter for this story. This is where everything begins to take off and I am letting you all know most of the characters are going to be written for a more horror movie style take. I have a very specific way of writing these characters and if that is something you don't like, then I'm sorry, but it is my story.

Some changes will include that Tavros is not paralyzed within this universe and Gamzee isn't going to be high out of his mind. This is also going to focus on relationships and Gamzee specifically. There's the warning.

I am also going to state that the pairings are going to be as followed:

Tavros/Gamzee

Equius/Karkat

Eridan/Sollux

Mituna/Kurloz

Rufioh/Horuss

Cronus/Kankri

and several others will appear throughout the story. Also, there will be alot of cuddle fluff between Equius and Gamzee who have grown up as good friends. So there's nothing romantic between the two.

Chapter 01: Modern Day

Violet eyes shoot open as the lithe form awakens to his alarm going off in his room. He's breathing heavily as he looks around his bedroom, his eyes still wide in a frozen look of horror and confusion. It takes a few moments before he sighs heavily as he brings his hand up to run through his hair, pushing the raven locks out of his face as his other hand comes down on the snooze button.

He lays back down against his pillows as he tries to think of what could be causing him to have these dreams lately. Could it be stress related? Was he not sleeping enough? He sighs again as he hears his older brother calling to him to get up and start getting ready for school. He pushes himself up as he decides to go ahead and do what his brother says.

His name is Gamzee Makara. He's a 16 year old boy who's been raised by his elder brother, Kurloz, ever since he could remember. Kurloz has told him many stories on how they had ended up at an orphanage when Kurloz was 9 and Gamzee was only a few weeks old. It was a brutal time for them as Kurloz had turned very defensive and protective over Gamzee, his fear that his baby brother would vanish just like their parents did. Neither of them knew their mother or father and Kurloz had very little memories of either of them.

Kurloz is a tall man with a lean build and pale skin. He had black hair which was slightly curly and hung down to his shoulders and he has light lavender eyes. Gamzee was a bit shorter than his brother, with darker purple eyes and his hair was more of a mess. The black hair was a mixture of curly and wavy and usually Gamzee just brushed it out to get the knots out and left it at that.

The two brothers were taken in by an older couple and Kurloz worked hard to provide for their little family, graduating with honors from High School and going to college to pursue art. He ended up landing a very successful career as a model for a clothing company and after being able to save for a while, he officially became Gamzee's legal guardian and when the elderly couple who had helped them grow passed away, Kurloz was left stunned to be the receiver of a life insurance policy that was split between him and Gamzee.

The two brothers sold the home and had gotten a new home closer to a good school and neighbor hood for Gamzee to grow up in and thrive. That's how Kurloz and Gamzee met the Zahhak family and Gamzee met his soon to be super best friend, Equius.
