Lutfanessa Jana has never belonged. Or at least that's what she tells herself.

Brooding, snarky and obsessive to a fault; sometimes, Lutfanessa knows nothing better than to see everything with a very critical eye. A characteristic feature which she believes puts her in a starkly contrasting position to her sister, who is the softer and lovelier part of all things that Lutfanessa has ever wanted.

She finds herself in a constant Dostoyevskian predicament as she tries to find her place in life, and most importantly find her place next to her sister Lalitha; which brings her to the question- where is her place? Is it the place right next to Lalitha, as her equal; or is it in her shadows, obscured forever as a marionette to her own insecurities?

The small seaside town of Havenbrook, with the effortlessly charming Beckett and the subtly mysterious Oliver, might just hold the key to unfurling Lutfanessa's little predicament.
