Her Prince

Chapter 5

I could feel someone shaking me awake. I was pretty sure it was that idiot Braxton.

" Uhhhh let me sleep Brax." 

" ummm sorry miss but we've landed." 

That's when my eyes flew open and the previous day's events came back to me. 

Shit we're in Copenhagen. 

My cheeks flushed in embarrassment. 

" Alfred is it possible for me to freshen up before we head towards the castle." 

" Yes, Your Highness. There's a cabin at the back with a bedroom and bathroom. Till you freshen up, I will get the car loaded with your belongings." 

"Yes. Thank you." 

I grabbed my handbag and quickly went to the cabin, freshened up and changed my clothes from sweatpants and sneakers to a dress and a pair of heels.

I looked in the mirror to see if I was presentable. Well  however presentable one can be after flying for 10  hours.  

I made my way towards the front of the plane and, as soon as I stepped on the stairs, all eyes were on me. Even though I felt very uncomfortable, I held my chin up and shoulders back and,  descended the stairs with confidence.

( Have you like ever felt super self-conscious when people stare at you and like you feel either there's something on your face or your hair is a mess......Cause I feel like that a lot or like when I'm wearing heels that I'm gonna trip and fall flat on my face. Anyway sorry lets get back to the story)  

" I hope I look presentable Alfred." 

" You look beautiful your Highness. Just like your mother when she was your age."

( Just for your reference, her parents grew up together. Her mum belonged to a noble family in Denmark.)   

Blushing, I said thank you. 

"Your  Highness, this is your driver David and bodyguard, Joseph. They will be with you at all times even when you decide to drive on your own, they will follow you in another car." 

" Very well thank you." 

Turning towards David and Joseph I said.

" It's a pleasure to met you David and Joseph." 

"The pleasure is all ours your Highness." they said together.  

I quickly got into the car and we started our journey from the airport to the palace. 

Within the 45 minute drive, many memories of mine surfaced especially those with my parents when we used to travel. A tear slid down my eye and, I quickly wiped it away. I know that the pain of loosing them will always be there but, they were in a better place together and the only thing I ever wanted for them was to be happy. 

In no time, we were entering the palace gates. The lush green gardens, statues and the structure of the palace was exactly the same as it was 2 and a half years ago.
