CHELSEA'S POV:
"Chelsea honey. Nick you little devil, wake up! Breakfast!" Dad shouted from the kitchen cheerfully. I was already awake and dressed casually for work so I left my bedroom and headed to the kitchen."Sleep well kiddo?" Dad asked, handing me a plate with toast and jam on it.
"Yeah it was okay. Can't wait to get back to work. I hate having days off." I whined, taking a bite of my breakfast.
"Morning dad, hey sis!" Nick chirped.
"Morning stinker!" I joked, grabbing my other slice of toast and heading to the door.
"Ah, ah, ah. Not so fast slender legs." Dad called me back.
"What?" I asked with confusion.
"Slight change of plan tonight if you two are up for it." He said. I knew where this was going. My favourite. Dad smiled at me.
"If it's joining you on Night Guard again, I'll see you both in the staff room at 7:30pm. I'm gunna be late if I don't go now!" I rushed.
"Chels chill. Your shift isn't for another hour and 36 minutes." Nick laughed, looking at his watch.
"Fine. I'll go do some make up and then I'll leave for work." I sighed, going back to my room and sitting at my desk. Homework assignments laid scattered over the top and I had no idea where to begin. I had to get given the study of Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Dad could probably take me to the Ancient Egypt section tonight. Surely someone knows. I was knocked from my thoughts by dad.
"You okay sweetie. You seem stressed." He asked, coming over.
"Yeah it's just this assignment I have. It's Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. I haven't got a clue on Ancient Egypt. Hence why I wanted to leave early and talk to a fellow tour guide. Take my assignment and get started." I sighed, brushing some gold eyeshadow onto my eyelids and topping the look with black eyeliner that came out in wings.
"I may be able to find you help. 7:30 staff room like you said. Bring your assignment." He offered.
"No because me and paperwork in open places don't mix. I'll lose it." I giggled.
"This is very true. I'll still help you though if you want." He smiled, patting my shoulder.
"Ok dad. That would be great. Thanks." I said back before grabbing my bag and phone and then heading out the door with my earphones in.
I arrived at work with 15 minutes to spare. I hadn't caught sight of the boss yet so hopefully it meant all was calm. I put my bag and jumper in my locker and then headed to the sign in book, putting my name down and my arrival time. I took my swipe card and swiped it so they could check my sign in time if they wanted and then clipped my ID badge onto my T-shirt, heading towards the African Animals sector for my first tour.
TIMESKIP
It was my lunch break. My leg was hurting where I'd twisted it and pulled the ligaments in my knee down to my ankle. I don't do things by halves.
"Hey Chels!" My friend who toured the ancient Egypt decor chirped. I did listen to dad and brought it in anyway. Maybe she could help me.
"Hey Evie. Do you know anything about hieroglyphics?" I asked.
"A bit. Come to the sector with me. It's easier and quieter." She smiled, leading the way.
When we arrived, I looked about in awe at everything. It was dim here but seemed to glow so beautifully to give the perfect amount of light too. I jumped at the big dog like statues.
"Their the Anubis Statues. They protect the Pharaohs tomb. These here are hieroglyphics. These drawings and symbols. It's how the ancient Egyptians used to write. This tablet belonged to the pharaoh and his family. It's supposedly magical but there's been no proof of it." She said, happy to be talking to a colleague.
"So what do they mean?" I asked.
"Nobody really knows what they say. You'd have to find an Egyptian to help you. Someone who knows ancient hieroglyphics. I'm sorry I couldn't help more." She said.
"It's okay. It's a start at least!" I said shyly.
"Okies. Well I'll see you about Chels!" she said as I headed back to the lunch room.
"See ya!" I chirped and turned the corner. Those statues scare me. Big time. I sighed in defeat and slumped myself down against the wall. This was hopeless. I'd never pass my classes.
After gathering myself together, I checked my watch and saw it was 2:30. My next tour was in fifteen minutes and I was talking about Rex and his species for a school group learning about T-Rex. I let a yawn escape me before getting back up and heading away from the Egyptian sector.
I stopped by the lunch room to grab a drink to last me during the tour and also my clipboard. Once I was sure I had everything, I headed to Rex and saw the school group stood patiently waiting.
"Hey guys. You all ready to learn about Rexy our T-Rex?" I asked with enthusiasm.
"YEAH!!" They said back with joy and the same energy.
"Ok. Let's learn about Rexy then!" I began. Oh boy this was gunna be a long one.
