jake woke up that day feeling a bit more nervous than usual. well, the boy was always been an anxious person, to begin with, so the extra nerves didn't help him at all. ever since primary school, jake has been cautious about everything he did. even when he was put into soccer, the poor boy tried his best not to get too nervous before playing.

that day was especially a day where jake's heart wouldn't give him a break. it felt like his chest was going to explode into confetti.

it was the opening day of his uncle's new cafe. although he was happy that the business was opening up, jake started regretting volunteering to work as an employee there.

it wasn't that he didn't want to support his family, but the boy just didn't realize how nervous he would get. he only has been in korea for a year and a half due to college. his speaking skills were still developing. which meant being a cashier had become quite stressful to the poor foreigner.

jake stood up and made his way to his shared kitchen with his roommate, jay park. jake met jay a week into moving to korea. he was living at a temporary hotel and was looking for a dorm that was an average price. jay saw him at their campus and they clicked just like that.

jake clung to jay during his first year, he always asked him for help and was forever grateful.

so back to the present, he turned to the kitchen where he saw jay cooking what looked like eggs. he smiled and sat on the stool for the kitchen island.

jay heard the squeak of the chair being pulled. the elder smiled when he saw the boy rest his head down on the table. "hey jake, did you sleep? last time i checked before sleeping you were crying over a drama." he laughed when he recalled the memory.

"for your information, it was an anime, not a drama. and secondly, yuri on ice is a masterpiece that deserves a waterfall of tears" jake said with a hint of sass.
