I remember my first day of prison when I was ruled guilty. I admit, I shed some tears, I knew I wasn't supposed to be here. I was thrown into my cell like I was nothing though I knew I was much more than that. I had hopes and dreams and a pregnant wife but now I'm missing every moment. The next day I was given a list of chores and a schedule from morning to sleeping hours. I applied for a prison job in the cafeteria, I was quite the cook if I do say so myself but I was earning money even though it was a very minimum wage, I was still able to send my wife money so she could do what she needed when the time comes. I'm gonna miss that woman. Life in prison wasn't too bad except for when the guards would illegally beat us just for the hell of it.The people that were rapists got the worse beatings, even the prisoners hated them. I guess some criminals have a heart in their own little way. Three years into prison I got a letter saying that my wife and child died in a car accident. Now...I had no one waiting for me back at home. Now all I wanted was to leave and start a new life, who knew I would escape five years later.
