(July 21st) Wednesday
Summer vacation is a load of bullshit.
Now, a lot of you are going to ask, 'Y/N, what the heck makes you say that!?' Well, when it's July twenty-first and you're in the middle of the Tokyo sun almost passed out on the side of the road because of the heat you'd get why.
I've been honked at a million times already but no one seems to understand that I am being cooked like a fried egg and physically sizzling.
"Y/N? What are you doing here!?" The voice was familiar, I mean, of course it was familiar, it was my noisy roommate. The one dude who's always screaming over something, whether it'd be a cute girl or accidentally setting the yard on fire.
"Kazuichi, leave me alone," I groaned glaring at the bottom of his chin.
He sighed angrily, crouching down and flicking my forehead, making me wince and grab my blazing skull, "You're burning." He stated.
"Thanks for the diagnosis captain obvious." I sat up, putting my palm on the mechanic's face and shoving him backwards. He yelped like an angry puppy, glaring at me.
"Hey! I came all the way out here to get you and you treat me like this!?" He whined, leaving a ringing in my ear.
I groaned, rubbing my temple, "Yeah yeah, whatever, thanks." I muttered, not really meaning anything I said. After laying on the pavement for an eternity I finally took a look at my surroundings. Nothing had changed from the time I passed out, still the same neighbourhood I've lived in since I was 13. The houses were small and cozy, after all, we lived in the outskirts of Tokyo, the place was like a small town of its own but compared to the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo this was so much more peaceful.
Well, I bet a lost tourist could mistaken it for a small town, after all, it was one of the only places in Tokyo where there were a total amount of *zero* tourists in. There were a grand total of two schools of a hundred students each in the district, and pretty much everyone knew each other.
While I was spacing out I felt a cold stickiness poke my cheek, I looked over, only for Kazuichi to shove it in my mouth. I looked down and saw a blueberry popsicle with a stripe of strawberry, I grabbed the popsicle stick, taking it out of my mouth and licking it, enjoying the feeling of cold after sitting out in the sun for so long, "Thanks." I mumbled.
Kazuichi nodded pulling out a raspberry popsicle with a lemon stripe out of its wrapper, biting the snack with his sharp teeth. I shuddered, physically cringing, why does he always have to do that!? Eat the popsicle normally dipshit!
Though... old habits die hard, and I'm not in the mood for getting into an argument with my best friend about the correct way to eat a popsicle.
Kazuichi and I have been friends since before I came to Tokyo. Originally I was from Kawasaki, but with shit parents like mine, I ran away. Before then I had been messaging Kazuichi for a while and he had been living in downtown Tokyo, wanting to get away from his father as soon as possible, we both had a plan to move together in a small place outside of the busy parts of Tokyo, both working together to pay rent and stay away from our parents.
The first year of high school had just ended, nothing had really changed in the 3 years of us living together. We've both been depending on each other and the daily free instant noodles from Miss Hagakure and her son at the local convenient store.
