An ALL-AMERICAN Summer Love

Netflix & Chill - Chapter 2

Spencer turns around and Olivia is standing in the doorway completely silent as they both give each other eye contact.  Olivia snaps out of it and says, "It's really late and do you think you should drive back to Crenshaw not knowing if you may have another episode with your arm?"  Spencer responds, "Liv if you want me to say then just say so." "Oh don't flatter yourself, Mr. James" she replies.  Spencer laughs at her knowing she really wanted him to stay but also knows she is genuinely concerned about him as well. He walks back inside after agreeing to stay. Well, it seems like we both got a second wind in us Spencer jokingly says.  You can say that, Olivia says with a smirk smile.    Are you up for a movie she asks and Spencer replies, "Sure, but let me shower and  change clothes.  He goes upstairs to his room to shower and  change into some gym shorts and boxers.  Olivia changes into some lounging pants and tank top.  Olivia goes downstairs first to pop some popcorn before heading to the couch.  Spencer finally comes back down and sits on the opposite end of the couch.  They both reach for the remote at the same time.  "Ummmm no sir, I am going to pick the movie" Olivia says.  "So you don't trust my pick in movies, Spencer says sarcastically?"  I trust you but movie picks...now you pushing it!  He laughs and says, "Aight, bet!".  Fine!  You can pick but it better not be Varsity Blues, Friday Night Lights, Any Given Sunday or any other football movie, Olivia says.  "Don't hate the game, Liv"!  They both burst out laughing and Olivia admits that all those movies are actually good.  Liv went to make sure the front door was locked and grabbed a couple of cranberry juices.  The movie was starting and she was shocked at the movie Spencer had picked.  "I have read about this movie but didn't realize it had premiered, Olivia said.  "Yeah, it came out the beginning of the year, Spencer responded but I am sure you haven't had much time to catch up on all the latest movies." "How would you know" Liv replied.  "I just know" Spencer said while giving her a wink.  Liv is trying to hide behind her blushing.  So, are you just going to hog all the popcorn?  If you want some come and get some he says. Well, I am not the one who chose to sit waaaaaay down on the opposite end of the couch she says.  I was on my end first she says and he tells her back and this is the end I am more comfortable on.  Just start the movie, Spencer!  Before he presses play, he grabs his UCLA throw and sits in the middle and she joins him.  Now see was that hard to do.  She nudges him, takes the popcorn and puts the throw on all of her. "Oh so it's like that he says.  She looks at him with a smirk and nodding her head up and down.  He shakes his head and presses play.  

The credits are ending and Olivia is crying, "Spencer I trust not only you but your movie picks too."  Sylvie's Love was soooooo good!  Wow to have a love like that.   It wasn't my original pick but I knew it something you would like.  Oh you know me so well.  That I do and also know that you were not honest with me earlier. Spencer's reply caught Liv off guard.  She knew that Spencer could read right through her as she could through him.  Honestly, Spencer when you came over earlier your timing couldn't have come at a better time.  As you said with everyone doing their own thing, I just had a moment of "I am alone".  Then why didn't you reach out to me I always have time for you.  Liv's eyes were becoming "glossy".  She shook it off.  "Honestly, Spencer with everything with the  possible school closing and you supporting Crenshaw. I just didn't think to bother...he immediately cut her off.  You are never a bother to me Liv.  Reach out to me and let me know what you got going on in that big old head of yours.  She hit him upside the head but appreciated his concern and how he always makes her feel better. 

So, is that's why you wanted me to stay because you didn't want to be alone?  She admitted "yes but also I was concerned about you too".  He looked at her as if he wasn't buying the concern for him part.  She sat up on the couch beside Spencer and looked at him.  He looked at her and  realized she was serious. "Spencer, thank you for staying with me tonight.  Yes, I wanted you to stay primarily for me but after seeing what happened to your arm I really wanted you to stay for you too." He saw the sincerity in her eyes and turned closer to her to grab her hands.  "Listen, I know you were just looking out for me and I appreciate that.  You are always looking out for me.  Spencer James will always look out for Olivia Baker.  Olivia smiles at him with her teary eyes.  She places her upper body in Spencer lap and curls her lower body up while he covers her up with the UCLA throw blanket.  She whispers, "Thank you, Spencer".  He looks down at her and notices she has dozed off and kisses the back of her head and says, "I wouldn't have it any other way."

*Sylvie's Love is not a Netflix movie but an Amazon Prime Video movie.
