or, relearning how to handle so much sound after years of silence.
//tw!! sensory overload, anxiety, blood (maybe sh? it was panic attack triggered so i'm not sure what the correct warning is!)
Tommy sat up from his sleeping spot on the couch, his eyes wide.
He didn't know where he was, or who he was with.
He was supposed to be at home, with mom-
Right. There was no mom anymore, thanks to him.He sat back against the couch, closing his eyes and listening to his surroundings as best he could.
From about ten feet away, he heard soft talking. He slowly rose, looking for any sort of weapon to protect himself, and resorted to the bat by the front door of the house.
He gripped it in his hands and silently crept toward the noise, his heart pounding.
And then, he remembered. He remembered Techno and Wilbur arriving at the old cottage and saving him from dying cold and alone with no mother or father to keep him safe.
He froze in his tracks, slowly lowering the bat to the floor.
'It's just Tech and Wil. They won't hurt you. You're safe.'
He leaned the bat against the wall closest to him.
He remembered the nightmare he'd had last night as well, and how Wilbur had comforted him.
'Why the fuck did he do that? Doesn't he hate me?'
Tommy absentmindedly picked at the skin on his bottom lip as he shyly made his way toward his brothers.
The living room exit lead him down a short hallway that opened to the kitchen, which was quite big- as was the rest of the house.
He slowly emerged from the dark hallway, his eyes on the floor.
He was immediately greeted by Wilbur.
"The boy lives. Good morning, Tommy!" He said in a warm voice, and Tommy waved."Morning." He replied, his throat scratchy and dry.
Techno spoke next.
"Tommy."
The younger looked to his oldest brother and lifted an eyebrow.
"Techno?" He asked.
Techno cracked a smile.
"Hello."
His response was just as warm as Wilbur's.
Tommy smiled back sheepishly.
"'Ello."
The three stood in silence for a moment before Wilbur spoke up again.
"Tommy, have you eaten at all?" He asked, his eyes boring holes into Tommy's back. Now, the issue was, Tommy couldn't remember if he had or not.
Yesterday had been a blur.
A traumatizing blur, but a blur nonetheless.
He wasn't sure if he'd eaten, but it was safe to assume he hadn't.
He held up his hands and signed 'no', and Wilbur nodded.
'Hungry?' he signed back, and Tommy gave him a thumbs up.
Wilbur chuckled and went to go make breakfast for the youngest, and Techno stared in confusion.
Tommy made eye contact with him and immediately looked to the floor.
"Sign language," he mumbled, twiddling his thumbs.
