The shift finally ended. It was 8:46. He had worked hard all day, as always. 14 minutes to get to the campfire. He said his goodbyes to Mr krabs, walked out the door then sprang up onto his unicycle eagerly. He pedalled as fast as his scrawny legs would let him to reach his home. He looked at his watch. 8:51. He fed Gary, changed into the nicest clothes he could find, and ran outside. He speed-walked the rest of the way and arrived perfectly on time.
He looked around.
There really wasn't much, only the newly lit campfire, and unsurprisingly, Patrick. He was sitting turned the other way. As Spongebob approached from behind, Patrick gently said,
"hey, you came here after all!"
"Of course I did, Patrick. After all, you're the most important person to me." SpongeBob replied softly, sheepishly sitting down next to Patrick.
"Really?" Patrick blushed.
"Yes! You're the best friend I've ever had." SpongeBob said.
I wish you were more than that though... He thought.
Patrick smiled.
"Well, I should probably tell you why I asked you to come here today." He hesitated, then sighed."I wanted to tell you, that you mean the world to me. All the good memories we had, all the good times, you've always stayed with me. We've had our differences but still our friendship survived. I've wanted to tell you this for a long time now.
I love you, SpongeBob. I love you so much that it hurts. I can't stop thinking about you. I've always loved you, and I always will."SpongeBob looked into Patrick's eyes, stunned.
"Oh Patrick! I feel the same way! I haven't been able to stop thinking about you. Ever since I saw you in those fishnets and sexy boots when i sang Gooby Goober Rock, I haven't been able to stop thinking about you."
SpongeBob smiled lovingly,
"I love you Patrick. I love you so much."They looked into each other's eyes longingly, and moved closer and closer and-
SpongeBob leaned in and closed his eyes.
Patricks hands were shaking from how nervous he was. But it was a good nervous. The kind of nervous that you get when you're having fun on a rollercoaster. The kind of feeling you get in your stomach when you go over a speed bump. The feeling when you're in love.Patrick smiled and closed his eyes.
They shared a gentle kiss, which turned into a warm embrace. SpongeBob held Patrick's hand all the way to his house. They shared one last kiss before Patrick opened his rock-house and jumped in.
SpongeBob went back home, giddy with joy.
As soon as he closed his door, he leant on it, held both hands to his chest and sighed, melting into the floor.Today was the best day ever.
