Teaming up with the monsters (Monsters Vs aliens) Reader-insert

Meeting them

-AN: Sorry this story was on a bit of a hiatus, I was actually not sure if I would have continued writing this but all the comments convinced me to, so thank you-

"Are you in control of your abilities?" Monger asked. You shook your head, as much as you wanted to lie to them so you can seem in cotnrol, you had a feeling that lying would only make it worse. You shook your head. 

"No, I... I'm sure I will be able to with practice though." You said, hoping to sound optimistic. Monger thought for a bit.

"Well, I believe it's best if you stayed here, I hope you understand." He said. "We used to give monsters different names, but due to policy changes, you can keep your name if you would like to. What would you like to be known as."

"Y/N." You replied. 

"Alright, Monger replied. "I will fill out the paperwork and make the necessary arrangements. In the meantime, you are free to walk around the base and get to know the others." 

You nodded and decided that the best place to start meeting the others is the rec-room. Link and Ginormica were watching tv. 

"Hi." You said shyly. 

"Oh, Hi. We were wondering how things would go with Monger." Ginormica said. 

"He said it would be best if I stayed." You explained. 

"It's really not so bad here." Link said. Ginormica nodded in agreement. 

"Take it from me, I used to hate the idea of having to stay here, but it actually is really nice." She said. You smiled. 

"Yeah... maybe." You said, still unsure. 

"You'll be fine." Ginormica reassured you. 

"Yeah, the change is hard to get used but, but you'll be fine. I mean you won't be the strongest but still..." Link added. You laughed

"Yeah, from what I heard in the news, you have that role." You said. 

"Anyways, you probably want to meet the others so Bob is in the gym, probably making a mess of things and Dr. Cockroach is probably in his lab, but if you want to say hi to him, I would suggest knocking on the door first in case he is in the middle of an experiment." Link said. 

"Thanks." You replied as you headed to the door. You decided to head to the gym to meet Bob, mainly because you were curious to see what kind of mess the others think he would make.  You walked until you found a door that was labelled "Gym". Slowly, you opened the door. You saw him bouncing on the trampolines that were used for workouts, on the occasions he would fall off, it didn't seem to hurt him. You smiled, he seemed to be having fun. He eventually noticed you. 

"Hi!" He shouted, still jumping on the trampoline, "Link told he there was someone else coming. Are you our new teammate?" 

"Yeah." You said. 

"So, I heard you get the choice to pick a monster name or go with your normal name, what did you pick?" He asked. 

"Y/N." You said. 

"So, what are you doing next?" Bob asked. 

"Well, I wanted to meet Dr.Cockroach, I mean I met him when this started but I didn't really get a chance to introduce myself to him." You explained. 

"Have fun!" He said, still shouting. You left and went to the lab. Knocking hesitantly on the door, you wondered if he was the one who caused this accident with his experiments. You're thinking was cut off by him opening the door. 

"Hello, I see you appear to be handling this better then before, that's good." He greeted smiling. 

"Yeah... You guys are really nice and maybe things will be okay here." You said quietly, though you were still upset about having to leave so much behind. 

"I'm sure it will." He replied. 

"Wait... I have to ask, did you do any experiment that might have caused what happened? I'm not looking to blame anyone, I'm just trying to find answers." You asked. Dr.Cockroach shook his head. 

"I'm sorry, I would tell you if I was, but I was spending the day fixing Bob's game." He explained. You nodded. 

"Okay, I was just wondering." You replied. Dr.Cockroach thought for a bit. 

"I know they might not be involved, but we do have some aliens here on the base and Coverton particularly seems to like causing trouble. The others aren't likely to have caused anything intentional but then again, things are never really quiet around here." He finally replied. 

"Maybe I will say a quick introduction." You replied. 

"You'll find the by going down the north hallway." He said. 

"Thanks." You replied and left for the aliens' section. 

After a but of walking, you almost bumped into a smaller alien. 

"Hi." You said "Sorry, I'm  new here." 

"I heard that they were getting a new team member for 'Team Monster', I'm Sqweep." She said. 

"Nice to meet you, I'm Y/N. I was just seeing if anyone here knew how this happened, I mean me becoming a monster with the ability to turn objects into goo." You explained. 

"Well, I was working on Earth studies all day today, good luck finding out what happened." She said then left. You continued to walk down the hallway when you suddenly were stopped by a large purple creature. You were about to leave when you heard someone say angrily. 

"Vornicarn! What did you find?" Suddenly a yellow alien came. You stepped back at how quickly and angrily she entered. 

"You must be the new person." She said. 

"Yeah... I... I was just seeing if anyone knew how I became a monster, I know I was hit by some weird goo, but I'm not sure where the goo exactly came from." 

"I am a proud warrior! I have no interest in science!" She yelled. 

"Okay... I was just asking. I'm Y/N by the way and you are...." You asked, trying to avoid a fight on your first day. 

"Sta'abi, and this is Vornicarn." She said. "Now, you made me late for training." She left after saying that. You shook your head, but smiled. An alien in a floating chair came. 

"You must be the new person, I heard about you." He said. 

"Oh, well my name is Y/N." You said. 

"And I am Coverton." He said. You remembered what Dr.Cockroach said about him and decided to see if he knows anything. 

"I was hit by some weird goo then had the ability to change things into goo, you wouldn't know anything about that would you?" You asked. 

"Who do you think I am?" He asked indignantly. You shrugged. 

"I asked everyone else about it, or at least they know that I'm looking for answers." You said. Coverton thought for a bit. 

"No, don't know anything, but I would like to offer my assistance in helping you figure it out." He said. You remembered Dr.Cockroach telling you about him.

"Alright... thanks." You replied. Sure, maybe you can't trust him, but thought that you could find out more, or at least, not seem rude. 

"I better go rest up, it has been a long day." You said then turned to leave. 

"Of course." He replied. You left to find your room, the events of the day heavy on your mind.
