       I wake in a cold sweat breathing heavily. I feel tears streaming down my face. I have nightmares quite often but this particular night I dreamed of my father. Of the sleepless nights. The countless beatings. The awful words thrown at me. I still remember the days before they found out how powerful I was. Fear can do crazy things to even the best people. I turn and see Alice passed out on the floor with books spread all around her and messy notes scribbled onto loose pieces of parchment. Lily is laying on her bed, her hair is so messy when she sleeps. I quietly step out of bed and walk down to the common room. I sit down on the couch in the common room and silently cry looking into the fire. The fire burns all the time because it's been charmed. You would think i would be used to the magic of the wizard if world since i'm a half blood but the magic still mesmerizes me everyday.

"Lani" i hear a raspy voice whisper in the dark. Next thing i know Sirius is sitting next to me on the couch. I turn my head to him forgetting i was crying before. He frowns at my tears and reaches his hands up to wipe my tears away. He cups my face and looks me in the eyes. I freeze for a second, looking into his foggy blue eyes. He takes his hands away and i can't help but notice my own disappointment but then he pulls me into a hug and pulls a blanket over both of us. He runs his fingers through my hair and I smile in a moment of pure and simple happiness.

"Are you okay" he asks quietly

"Yeah just nightmares" i reply in a tired voice "Why are you up?"

"Same" he reply's. We sit in comfortable silence until we both drift off to sleep.

I wake up to flashing lights and loud whispers. I yawn and sit up looking around to see James, lily, remus, peter, Alice, Mary and Marlene crowded around me. James is pointing a polaroid camera at me.

"What the hell?" i say groggily that's when i notice Sirius' arms wrapped around me and me hands on his chest. I turn around and see Sirius with crazy hair and a tomato red face. I get up quickly and he follows clearing his throat.

"Good morning lovebirds" James says in a song song voice.

"What time is it?" I ask ignoring Jameses comment.

"9 o'clock" lily says "Let's go upstairs and get ready"

"We decided to have a picnic with all of us out by the lake" she says grabbing my arm and pulling me upstairs by my arm. When we get upstairs she hands me a green sweatshirt, floral spaghetti strap top and light blue jeans. I go to the bathroom to shower and change. I put on some mascara and chapstick. I grab my Vanilla-Coconut perfume and spray it on myself then spray some in front of me and twirl in it. I zone out for a second thinking about how me and Sirius were cuddling last night.

"Lani hurry up" lily whines at the door. I quickly run a brush through my damp hair and do a quick drying spell. I open the door and Lily squeals and Marlene looks me up and down.

"If you weren't straight i would definitely ask you out" Marlene says with a joking flirtatious wink.

"Someone wants to impress Sirius" Lily teases.

"Your the one who picked my outfit" I laughed and rolled my eyes

We all have put down blankets and brought baskets of food from the house elves. I sit on a blanket with Sirius and Lily. James Remus and Peter sit together and Marlene, Mary, Alice and frank all sit together.

"It's so beautiful out" i say and everyone nods because they have food in their mouth.

"Not as beautiful as you" Sirius and marlene say at the same time causing everyone to start laughing hysterically and them to stick their tongues out at each other. Sirius and Marlene are a power duo. Both are flirtatious, Sirius labeled the, "Lady's man" and Marlene the, "Lady's woman" by the group.

"Sure Lani is pretty but my dearest lily pad is gorgeous" James says with a dramatic wink at Lily. Lily rolls her eyes but everyone sees the light blush spreading across her face which causes james to grin like a child on christmas. We chat for about another hour and laugh and joke around.

I am laying down with my head in Sirius' lap and he is running his hands through my hair while talking to james and peter about some prank they pulled last year and occasionally looks down and smiles or makes a funny face at me. Mary and Marlene are leaning into each other laughing about some comment remus made about Professior Curtis being bald. James and lily are bickering about whether sunsets or sunrises are better. Some times I wish I could just freeze everything, what people are doing, what I am feeling and just live in it forever, this is one of those moments.

James and Peter turn around to Remus and start talking to them. Sirius looks around and sees no one is looking at us then leans down and kisses my quickly on the cheek. He smirks when he sees my face turning red. I smile and look over to Mary and Marlene who are leaning into each other and Marlene has her arm thrown over Mary's shoulder. They would be a cute couple I think. Mary is quiet and very smart, she is so caring and loving and loves to read. Marlene is flamboyant, spontaneous and loves to cook which is good because i've tried to bake cookies with Mary once before and she just can't do it she is so clumsy.

We ended up coming inside from breakfast at around 11 30. I am laying in bed thinking about how Sirius kissed me earlier and the tingling sensation it left on my cheek. I may have a bit of a crush on him. It's not like anything could ever happen. We are so different but not in an opposites attract kind of different, more of a we wouldn't have anything to talk about or relate with. I mean what girl wouldn't be wooed by the charmer Sirius Black. It's just a silly crush I'll get over it.
