Chapter 2: The Launch

-At base-

"WAAAAKKEE UUUUUP!!!", Tabane shouted followed by a pillow thrown to Kensuke's face. "It's 5 am already!

"WHAT?!", he said. He quickly got out of his bed and grab his towel. He took his shower in 5 minutes. Brushed his teeth and scrubbed his body as quickly as he could. Since he will go the academy as a butler to Tabane, he had to wear his butler outfit. The outfit, given by Tabane, was consisted of a black slack trousers, a white long-sleeved button up shirt, a black vest, and a black blazer.

Most butlers wear white cotton gloves. But not him. He wore black thin leather gloves. He chose the leather gloves over the plain cotton because he could grab things easier using the leather gloves. He chose the colour black because it looks good on him when he takes off his blazer, occasionally. But, if he got tired of it, he would just take off the gloves and kept it.

He quickly put on his outfit, gloves included. After he was done, he took his mask and put it on. He did not want those people at the academy to recognise him. When he put the mask on, he felt safe. He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled it. He had finished.

He went out of his room with the bag and went to the launching pad. There, Tabane was waiting for him. She already had the pods prepared for the launch.

"Master."
"Kensuke"
"Remind me again why are we not taking the plane? It would be much safer. Not to mention more comfortable."
"Well, I want to go there fast and my pods are the best way."
"You forgot to mention that you just told me about the event a day BEFORE the event"
"That too."

Kensuke let out a sigh. He cannot believe that his master would risk their lives just to go to their destination faster. He was actually scared that something might happen when he was riding the pod. Like the system fried, or an internal burning or the trajectory went off course.

But, there are no cases of accidents so far. He had no reason to be suspicious of it. Still, he was a bit afraid of the pods.

He sighed, "Well, whatever you say, Master. You're the master afterall"
"Mhm~ Now, let's go!"

After he helped Tabane climb into her personal pod, he put his bag inside his pod. Then he climbed into it. He fastened the seatbelt and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes as he slowly exhaled. He was nervous. His right hand was shaking a little bit.

"Kensuke, you good?", Tabane asked through the comm
"Yeah. I'm good to go"
"Alright then. Masha, initiate the launching sequence!"

In the control room, which is about 20 metres away from the launching pad, Masha showed her thumb to them, and through the microphone, she began the countdown.

"Oh God it's happening", Kensuke said to himself

"It's gonna be okay, right?"
"3"
"I mean, there've never been any accidents happened before..."
"2"
"So by theory, it should be fine, right?"
"1"
"WAIT!"
"Blast off!", Masha said as she pressed the launch button on her desk

As the pods blast off, Kenzaki hold to the railing next to him. He gripped the railing tightly, so tightly that veins started to show on his hands. He closed his eyes and grit his teeth. He mumbled "oh God" to himself, repeatedly.

About 30 seconds after the blast off, his body started to relax. He started to loosen his grips on the railings. He felt like his soul had left his body. It probably did, he thought to himself. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Forcing himself to sleep throughout the travel.

On the ground, in the control room, Masha waved her right hand to the pods with smile on her face. She loved the feeling when she launched the pods. It felt amazing to her.

"Godspeed, you two. Godspeed"
