Nightmares - a fitz x dex fan fiction

Wonderboy and the Insomniac Technopath

Dex's POV:

Dex woke up in a cold sweat. "Just a nightmare, just a nightmare," he muttered to himself, rubbing phantom burns. What should he do? He definitely wans't getting back to sleep. Maybe he could call someone on his imparter? But Sophie didn't need more to worry about, Biana was most likely asleep, Keefe would be cranky if he got woken up and he didn't know Marella, Tam or Linh that well. Which just left Fitz. Great, Wonderboy was officially his only good option. He picked up his imparter and said, "Show me Fitz Vacker." It rang for a coupke of seconds and then Fitz picked up (a/n I don't know if imparters ring just pretend they do for the sake of it)

"Dex? Are you ok?" Fitz asked, a hint of concern in his voice.

"Not really, had another nightmare," Dex told him wearily, he never got any sleep anymore.

Fitz' eyebrow scrunched together wrinkling his perfect forehead (a/n this is so cringy it's hurting me, I'm so sorry) "You've had another nightmare Dex?" He asked, "How long have you been having them and how much do you sleep nowadays?"

"Aww looks like Wonderboy's worries about me!" Dex teased, refusing to give up on the silly nickname.

"Actually, yes I am and I don't know if you noticed but that's not a proper answer to my questions, so I'll ask again, how long have you been having nightmares and how much do you sleep nowadays?"

"Nowadays is such an olden times word!"

Fitz glared at him.

"Ugh, fine," Dex sighed, "a couple of months and like 2 to 4 hours of sleep probably, I'm not really sure?"

Fitz sighed. "Dex why haven't you told anyone about this?"

"Because I don't want to worry anyone, like I am now, I can see that crinkle in between your eyebrows. See this is why I should've just kept it to myself!"

Fits suddenly told Dex, "Bye see you in a minute!" And hung up the call.Was he going to call back in a couple of minutes? His thoughts were cut off by a soft knock on the door. He got up slowly out of bed to answer it and was shocked to see wonderboy standing right outside. He was gaping at Fitz. Why was he here? It was like 3 am.

"Come in?" Dex told Fitz, though it also sounded like he was asking. He was so confused.

"Sorry I just thought you could use some company and a hug. I'll go if you don't want me h-"

Fitz was cut off when Dex told him, "No it would be nice if you stayed, but maybe we should go to my room, since we both clearly need some rest."

Dex lay down with Fitz behind him, Fitz giving the (only slightly) shorter boy a hug. For once Dex felt safe and warm and fell into a deep sleep. Except that night he didn't have nightmares. He dreamed of him and Fitz. Hugging, dancing together and kissing- wait kissing? Did he want to kiss wonderboy or did he just make that up in his head? Uptight wonderboy, with anger issues, who his best friend had a crush on, who was really cute and baked for his loved ones? Ughhhh life was so confusing. Why was Fitz so endearing? It wasn't fair, and it wasnt like he even had that many good qualities. It was so much worse considering the comlication of his best friend also having a crush on Fitz. Why was life so complicated? And now here he was, lying in bed with his sleeping crush still hugging him and all his feelings clouding his judgement. Suddenly some part of his brain decided at that moment to just say 'screw it' and kiss Fitz. And of course that moment was also the moment that Fitz woke up. Shit. 

 Fitz groggily looked at Dex and casually asked, "What's going on?" He looked so cute with his scruffy bed hair and that combined with what had just happened made Dex's face flush a deep red. Did Fitz know what had happened? Dex didn't know how to the question and thus became a mumbling, blushing mess. Fitz rubbed his eyes and yawned before propping himself up on a pillow, clearly distracted trying to figure out what was going on. Dex was about to apologise when Fitz kissed him. FITZ KISSED HIM!!! It took him a moment to register what exactly was going on and promptly kissed him back. Fitz pulled away and just sat there, staring at Dex, who was barely containing his urge to jump up and down with joy. Then he reminded himself of a few things, 1) Wasn't Fitz straight? But he was blushing. Maybe he just caught up in the moment? 2) Fitz liked Sophie didn't he? And Sophie liked Fitz. This was to much to deal with. Dex lay back down and Fitz decided to hug him again. Maybe this would work out. Although things don't usually work out well for him. He'd just have to hope and wish for this one thing to turn out well. But right now he as wrapped in Fitz's arms, warm and happy and so he pushed those worries to the back of his mind to think about another time.

A/N: Soooooo I'm just going to leave you with this. *places it on the ground at your feet* *sprints off as fast as I can, running for my life* Sorry but also not sorry I guess
This is actually my first attempt writing fanfiction so it's almost definitely terrible

Basically Dex can't sleep and Fitz ends up coming over, they kiss (twice) then Dex falls asleep while Fitz hugs him and Dex is very confused as to what's going on
