I woke up to something gooey and sticky splattering against my face. I opened my mouth wide in disgust when I wipe a leave against it and find out it's bird droppings. I fling the leave down below and descend the tree. I'm a little wobbly and groggy from my sleep but I luckily don't fall this time. I find a small patch of ice and tried to wipe my face off, but it wasn't easy.
I could tell they were dramatically changing the temperatures for fun. One day it's freezing and snows falling from the sky, and the next it's blazing hot and the sun burns our skin. Either way I hated it and I wanted fair weather. Then again I never wanted to be here, fighting for my life. But that wasn't my choice, it was the capitals. Controlling us like puppets was all they really ever did. And that gave them joy.
I thought long about the capitals offer. It just had to be my mother, I knew the dream was a message. I had to go, I can't let anyone I love die. I just need an edge to win, a plan. The rules were quite clear, someone close to us will be strapped to the cornucopia waiting for us to come and save them. We had to be a mile away from the cornucopia or we would die, and it's not just dodging other tributes, we would have to fight through a series of obstacles. (Probably capital mutts.) Worst of all, our loved ones could be killed by other tributes.
I just need an edge to win.
I lay in the glare of the hot sun as dribbles of sweat crawl down my face. I wake up again--- I must of dozed off- to find myself in a heavy winter coat and blanket set. I start to ferociously tear the extra padding off my body because I was seriously hot. Last night it was below 4 degrees, this morning it's maybe 95 degrees. I was getting seriously mad at these Game makers.
Another day, another kill. I guess?
I pull my feet out and stretch. I was sore from sleeping on a hard tree every night. Maybe I should I should find a new dwindling place. I take my shirt off and just wear the tank top beneath. I try to move, but I'm seriously sun burnt. I try to shake it off, but its not easy. I grab my knife and plunge off the tree to the wet ground. The snow and ice was melting away, leaving so much water I was pretty much taking a bath.
My stomach yearned for an abundance of food, but I had nothing. My mouth was also try and I had no iodine. My first instinct is to plop to the ground below and bask in the chilly water with my sun burns. I escape in the flood of water, I couldn't even tell if I was in a lake or not! I ponder of the idea of the Game makers granting us a miracle of water. Usually they like to limit the water amount and make it even harder to survive in here.
Then the realization hits me; they're doing this on purpose! They're building the water up so when we do the "oh so special twist". Not only would it be getting dark, there would be floods of water. Just as I weigh these ideas back and forth, I feel a plop of liquid attack my face. I look up to the cloudy, dark sky to see rain starting to fall. Of course, more rain!
Chapter (I'm not really sure..) Let's try 5
I wasn't going to lie, the rain was exactly what I needed. I found fish, swimming through the now 2 feet deep flood of water. I picked out five and stuffed them in my pocket. I was getting tired by swimming through the depths, but I had a bad idea that I was too willing to follow.
One side of me said, Theres not enough time to look and find it. The other part said, Oh please, It'll only take you seconds!
I finally decide on just going to try to find my things from my previous home. If only I knew the problems ahead of me if I made that decision.
