It was a hot day in Macon Georgia, but I couldn't say anything because it was always hot in Georgia. Especially in June, I wasn't really the kind that went to the parties and the football games but that was also probably because I was never invited. I was the one that had friends but they weren't really my friends, I was the only one in my class who listened to country music, the only one who fished, hunted, or wasn't the "cool" kid. Everybody had their crush. Most of the girls had a crush on the boys on the football team or whatever, they were the jock's of course. I was different. I didn't care about them they could go and win state, but I didn't give a crap. High school was never my best years, except for eleventh grade. That was the year I met you. The day you ran into me in the hallway was the first time I met you. You were new at our school. I was walking down the hallway to my second period math class. I had my head down and a stack of books in my hand trying to do the last two problems from my homework at the last minute, as always. I walked right into you, my books flying all over the floor. Me on my butt. I jumped up fast picking up my books. Through my long brown hair hanging over my face I saw you pick up my math book. I stand up and you smile handing me my book.
"Hi." I said shyly
"Hi." He answered back
"sorry I ran into you." He said
"no it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention." I stated tucking my long hair behind my ear.
"Have I met you before?" He asked frowning
"No, I don't think so." I stated
"Well then, my name is Matt. And you." He asked with a quirky smile.
"Umm, my name is Lacy."
"Nice to meet you Lacy." He gave me a smile that was irisitable. "Well I have to get to history see you around." he said, with that smile as he walked back down the hallway. I watched as he turned the corner towards Mr. Brown's class.
I gathered myself up after melting a little and started towards math. I sat down just as the bell rang. Mrs. Flum did roll call as Meg one of my best friends slipped in the door and sat down.
"Did you see that new kid. He is freaking tall!" Meg wispered
"Ms. Red, is there something you would like to share with the class?" Mrs. Flum asked, pestering Meg.
"No mam." Meg snickered trying to hold in her beautiful smile.
Meg was so pretty, she had beautiful blond hair that hung past her shoulders. She had a perfectly straight smile and lots of freckles. I was so glad that she was my friend. The fist time I met her I thought she was the queen bee, cheerleader type, but she is one of the nicest people that I have ever met. She understands me and doesn't care what I like, she excepts me for who I am.
Math class let out and I walked with Meg to history.
"Did you see him?" Meg pressed. she was one of the "boy crazy" girls.
"Yes, he ran into me in the hallway. He seems nice." I said
"Yeah and HOT!" she exclaimed
At the opening in the hall where I would turn to head to Mr. Brown's class, Matt came around the corner. Meg elbowed me in the side and smiled. As he got closer he noticed me and smiled. Ugh his smile was crazy.
"Hey Lacy," He said as he walked by
"Hey" I said as we passed.
"Oh, my, God," Meg flustered "He thinks your cute." she informed me
"What, no, how would you know?" I asked flabbergasted at her remark
"Come on Lacy, you know me. I could tell you what every boy in this school was thinking."
She was right. Meg was almost literally psychopathic.
"Whatever, I know but this time your wrong." I walked away and didn't talk to her for the rest of the day.
After school I went to the Street side cafe, it was the only place to find some quite after school. I sat down with my chia tea frappe and put in my head phones. I turned on some Florida Georgia Line and cranked it up. I sat there for a while looking at Instagram and texting some people. I was so caught up in my music that when Matt tapped me on the shoulder I barley even noticed. I pulled out my head phones and looked up.
"Oh hey Matt, what's up " I said with a smile
"Oh, uh, well, ok don't think I'm weird but I was getting a chia tea frappe. Don't judge they are really good." he stated smiling. I just laughed.
"What, they really are!" he laughed
"No I know, that's what I always get." I said still laughing.
"Really, that's weird." he said as he sat down. "Mind if I sit here?"
"No go ahead," I smiled
"What are you listening to?" He asked. I immediately went back to shy me. He couldn't know that I listened to country music. No body listened to country music. i guess i was blushing because he said "Hey I wont judge, I listen to country music, nobody listens to that."
I know that my jaw hit the floor. I started to laugh so hard and he just smiled at me.
"What?" He asked. I turned on my phone and showed him what was playing. The song that was playing was "The Dash" by Scotty McCreery. He looked up at me and smiled a huge smile. We both started laughing. Through his irresistible smile and quirky laugh, he said "I love that song!" He said as he smiled at me. I looked at him for a minute and he looked back. I started to notice his features, he had dark eyes that seemed to pierce you with pure joy, and dark brown hair that was almost black, witch he kept spiked. A white smile that was straight but defiantly not as straight as Meg's. His face was rounded but he had a square jaw. Finally I answered him after taking in his stature.
"I love it to, I have all the words memorized." I said
"Can I ask you something." He asked
"Yeah, of course" I said
"Do you hunt or fish?" He asked
"Maybe, why?" I asked smiling
"Because I do and I was going to go fishing this weekend if you want to come with me." He said
"Ok then yes I do hunt and fish and I would like to go fishing with you." I said smiling again. I just couldn't stop smiling around him.
We hung out for a while and talked but all I could think about was how it was crazy that all of a sudden I had a new friend who did every thing I did. Thanks for reading my first chapter. I felt like I had to write a little love story because I know how I feel and I just want people to know that they are completely normal. So don't stop being you! 👌😍😜
