Having a sense of humor was great especially when you are going to be getting into an arranged marriage. Now it was tested at every turn. Her work, her friends and especially her family were getting on her nerves. If it weren't tantrums from the cast, then it was some problem with her friends. The worst was her getting into a daily argument with her mother regarding the wedding preparations.
She knew that the marriage would be held only after six months after her rokha, engagement, took place. And she had to be there to help in finalizing the details but it was too much stress and all she wanted was a break so when she had to leave for Kim's brothers wedding she was as happy as she could be! She was seated in the aisle seat with Diya in between and Kim at the other end. The three of them having hectic schedules immediately fell asleep in the very comfortable business class seats that kim had upgraded them to.
They only woke up to eat their meals and would promptly doze off soon after.
They had loaded their trolleys and were heading towards the exit when the faint sounds of a band reached them. She and Diya rolled their eyes because as soon as Kim heard it she flew past security and in the middle of the crowd that consisted of the band members and her brothers.
After a ride that could have scared even the most dare devil of riders she fell on her bed and switching her phone on she was greeted with messages from her mother, sister, Navjot and even Simran. Replying to all she left her phone to charge and was about to have a shower when an unknown number called her. Answering the call in a no nonsense tone she broke into a smile that could cause Julia Roberts shame.
Navjot had called her to ask about her journey and wanted to know what her plans would be. She trying to be cool had to press the phone against her chest several times so that he wouldn't hear the squeals of excitement that left her. Ending the call she couldn't help but break out in dance in nothing more than her towel.
She had gotten ready in record time after her impromptu jig. She was at the staircase when she saw Kim run out of one of the guest rooms, her lips swollen and hair in a disarray. Carl followed shortly. Curiosity getting the better of her she followed them to the pool area.
She saw Carl stiffen when Kim lightly touched Jonah's hand. Kim looked panicked when she saw Carl approach her and then dashed towards the crowd.
Samaira was about to follow when she saw the familiar figure of her mother approaching her. This is what happened when you introduced your friends to your family. They became friends! Resigning herself to the lecture her mother was to start she snagged a drink from the passing waiter.
"Sonu why didn't you call back? If I did not come here today I wouldn't have known you were ok! Now that you are here instead of helping someone else in their wedding preparations why don't you start on yours? We know that you and Navjot have been talking to each other a lot. Do you like him? Are you okay with marrying him? Is there anything you need to know? If you don't want to marry him we will find somebody else. There is no pressure on you to marry him. Beta are you ok? Why aren't you answering? Do you want something to eat? When did you eat last?" Her mother fired one salvo after the other. The moment she stopped to catch her breath she started answering.
" Mumma I want to! This is more like helping in your own families wedding! I know about you knowing that we talk. I told you! Yes I do if I didn't I wouldn't have spoken to him.
I don't want to marry anybody else. He is a good man. I know you can't believe that I have grown up but well I guess it's time to move to the next part of my life. And mumma I ate! You need to eat now. Let's go, the buffet line has started." Saying that she guided her mother towards the line.
She was a hundred and ten percent sure that Kim and Carl had a thing. How was she so sure? Kim avoided Carl like the very plague. He looked at Kim like she was the most priceless artifact in the world and oh the glares he sent Shivam, the man Kim's family wanted her to marry. She wanted answers and she wanted them now. When she saw Kim walking hand in hand towards a room she dragged Diya along to confront Kim. The confrontation was of no use because Kim left the room and soon after they heard the squeal of tires on the payment. Frustrated she went to the next person who seemed to know what was happening.
She banged his door so hard she was surprised that her hand hadn't left an imprint on the door. Pushing the door open she walked in and sat on his bed and was scrutinizing him like a lab rat.
He pulled a chair and sat opposite her waiting for her to start. She got strait to the point.
"What do you want with Kim? From the moment you have meet her you have irritated her. Got into countless fights and then you do a 360 when you seem to be jealous when she speaks to Shivam. You do realize right that she is goid as taken? So if you have any feelings towards her you need to tell me now because as sophisticated and worldly wise she may look like she is a naive, humble soul who only finds the good in people. So Carl for the last time do you have any feelings for her?"
At his silence she got up and walked towards the door. She opened the door and at the threshold turned and said " you need to stay the hell away from her. You hurt her and I will introduce you to pain like you have never felt. Take it as a warning or a threat I don't really care but you need to stay the hell away from her."
She got back to her room and was updating Navjot about her day when she heard a soft knock at her door. Carl was standing there with a questioning look on his face. She opened her door and let him in. This time she waited for him to start.
He was pacing the floor, coming to a stop at the foot of her bed when he started " she is the most infuriating, complicated, stubborn woman I have ever meet. Looking at her I feel happy. She doesn't just look at me like another pretty face. She sees me as a human with flaws and to be honest it scares me. What if I am not good enough for her? You yourself said she only looks at the good of a person. What if she tries finding this good and it's not there? Then what do I do? I am not saying I love her but I have feelings, feelings for her. So I want an opportunity to be able to see if this could be more than just the chemistry we seem to have. Will you help me?" He asked.
Hopping off the bed she hugged him and said " yaar I have been waiting for so long for a guy like you to come into Kim's life! She is going to be a handful so are you sure you want to start something that you have no idea of?"
"Hey if I get the girl in the end why not?" He asked with a wry grin.
Happy that she seemed to make a new friend she sent him to his room and promised to help him from tomorrow when they would travel from Kochi to Hyderabad for the next wedding. After all Shivam wouldn't be there and Kim would be all alone. And when she was alone it would be the perfect time for Carl to make his presence felt in her life.
With all these evil thoughts going through her head, she sent a last message to Navjot.
SA: good night, dreaming of you! Can't wait to get home!! :*
