Lisa pushed the door to her condo open and stepped to the side to let Jennie in. Flipping the lights on, she scanned the living room, only to be met with four sets of unblinking eyes.

"Where's Lego? I haven't met the little guy yet!" Jennie asked excitedly, slipping out of her heels and silently sighing in relief.

"I've been keeping him in one of the other rooms when I'm out." Lisa responded sheepishly. "He's been knocking literally everything over and keeps falling off the counter, so I can't leave him out here."

From his perch on the back of the couch, Leo let out a chirrup and stretched his claws out before hopping down and padding over to the two women. Tail high, he sniffed disinterestedly at Lisa's socks before winding his body around Jennie's ankles. Haven't seen you in a while, small human. Hi. Hello. Love me. Look at me. Hi.

"Leeee-o!" Jennie squealed, patting the purring blob of grey and white at her feet before picking him up.

Yes, small loud human. Perfect. Now that's enough. Stop. Stop it. Too much. Bye. Leo squirmed out of Jennie's arms and sat out of reach, grooming his mussed up fur.

"Oh god. Jennie. I haven't vacuumed, you're gonna get fur all over your black clothes. Let me tell you, it's impossible to get fur out of black."

"It's ok, they're just clothes."

"No! Dry cleaner. Vacuum. Wash and dry. Small lint rollers. Big lint rollers. NOTHING gets fur out of black clothes. Why do you think I wear so many colours all the time? It's not for my health!" Lisa ranted, disappearing into the hallway.

Jennie shook her head in amusement, confused at the dancer's sudden departure.

Lisa popped out of her bedroom holding one of her baggy dance shirts and a pair of sweatpants that Jennie recognized as her own.

"You forgot these last time we all had a sleepover. Feel free to change if you want, I'll make a cup of tea." Lisa declared without pretense.

Jennie melted, appreciative of Lisa's unassuming, trademark hospitality. Although they had both taken a leap into something yet undefined, Jennie was surprised at how easily they could slip into the comfort of their long-established friendship. She walked over to Lisa, who stood on tiptoe rummaging in her pantry.

"Thanks Lili, can I stay here tonight?" From behind, she hugged Lisa around her waist, her fingertips snagging onto the belt loops of Lisa's jeans.

Lisa hummed in distracted assent, still messily pushing random food items aside.

"Of course. Feel free to freshen up, you know where everything is." She responded, before sleazily adding, "Mi casa es su casa," complete with a quirked eyebrow and small shoulder shimmy. Her multilingual ear tried, but failed, to capture the unfamiliar cadence, and the Spanish phrase left her mouth slightly garbled.

"Ew, Limario. That's it. I'm leaving." Jennie fired back, appalled at the change in Lisa's demeanour. Lisa simply smirked lugubriously.

Jennie stepped contentedly into the comfortable clothing and took advantage of an ensuite bathroom, wiping off her makeup and brushing her hair out, using the products that Lisa kept for guests. Stepping out of the ensuite, a sudden movement caught her eye. Before she knew it, something humongous and hairy and brown flew off the bed, launching itself towards her face.
