Chapter 1: The News
Howard had just started working again after a break when someone burst through his door. Who would it be other than one James "Bucky" Barnes, and.... was he....?
"H-Howard... I- I'm so sorry for bursting in here but..." Bucky started with more tears staining his face as he kept talking, "Steve and Peggy... they...."
"What about them, James?" Howard asked.
Bucky looked up Howard with such a devastated look it even hurt Howard "They... They're engaged... Steve proposed..." Bucky finished voice breaking
Howard knew about the crush Bucky had gotten on his best friend, Howard was surprised Steve picked someone he barley knew over his best friend.... who was definitely better looking than Peggy in Howard's opinion...
"A-and.. they're throwing an engagement party a-and I wanted you to be m-my plus one... I-I mean it's fine if y-you don't want to I-I don't know w-why I'm asking bu-"
Howard cut Bucky off "of course I'd be your plus one. That's what friends are for right?"
Bucky nodded, wiping the tears from his face "y-yeah, thanks Howard. It's tomorrow, by the way.."
"I'll see you then, darling." Howard responded, slightly smirking to himself at Bucky's blushing face at the Nickname.
"Yeah, see you then!" Bucky spoke as he left Howard's office.
As Bucky left, Howard started thinking of ways to make the young Barnes his, and only his. But first things first, get ready for the party tomorrow.
//I know this is short but I wanted to get this first chapter out. I hope you like this so far. Btw Howard is definitely not the best person, except to Bucky, he treats/will treat Bucky well, don't worry.
