AN: I am honestly only posting this to see if people like it because i had the idea and I am still not sure about it, so please let me know if this is good and if I should continue it!
Two kingdoms only miles away. You'd assume they would have a friendship or at least an alliance, but the truth was, they hated each other. The Kings specifically had hated each other, ever since they were young they had a rivalry. The two kingdoms almost broke into a war years back. Now they lived, wishing to forget the other existed; that worked out.
Then there was Dream. An ambitious boy who wanted nothing more than to discover new things. He wanted to leave the kingdom and do his own thing, however, he was the prince. Being the prince meant he had to set the example and stay. Of course, he was grateful to be the prince and to have all that he did, but it sucked sometimes to have to fit every standard his parents put on him.
He wished he could be a normal teenager like everyone else. His best friend Sapnap could do anything he wanted and Dream wished he had that kind of luxury.
He sat up in his room, staring out the window, entirely zoned out and staring at the people of the Kingdom. Then there was a sudden knock on his bedroom door.
"There's mail for you, Your Highness," the butler said.
Dream's eyes lit up and he ran over and grabbed it out of his hand and sat on his bed and started opening it. "Thank you," he smiled and the butler nodded and walked out, shutting the door.
The letter was from exactly who he expected. George.
He had been talking to George for a while. The other prince. The prince from the very kingdom he wasn't supposed to have any contact with. They had only met once 4 months ago. Dream could remember it like it was yesterday.

"I think it'll be fine, mom. They're probably just like us so we are going to meet them and if we hate them then we never have to see them again."
"I guess you're right. They have a son you know, he's just about your age," she said. "Hopefully you two can get along." she said, referring to the King and Queen of the other kingdom. The very King and Queen that they nearly despised. Dream was hoping the interaction went well and that he would do okay with meeting George.
The second Dream laid his eyes on George; he was practically in love. The first thing he noticed were his eyes. One was a dark brown, the other icy blue. It was quite unique and Dream loved it.
On George's end, he loved Dream's freckles. He found it adorable. That as well as the way his eyes seemed to light up every time he smiled.
They got along well, however, their parents still hated each other no matter how much they had tried to get along. The air was thick with tension the whole way through dinner. Afterwards, Dream had led George up to his bedroom and they just hung out and talked. It was nice.
"You look good in my crown. Green is a good color on you."
"I can't see green so I wouldn't know," he chuckled.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Greens and Yellows look the same to me."
"So are my eyes yellow to you?"
George's eyes focused on Dreams for a second and he nodded. "Like a yellow-ish golden brown," he said.
"That sounds way cooler than green," Dream laughed.
"Yeah, you're eyes are pretty, but grass on the other hand is ugly," he said and placed Dream's crown back on his head.
"Didn't think about that," he said and smiled. His smile faded when he saw George's dad walk into the room.
"George, we're leaving now. Let's go," he said.
"Awww, come on, I wanna stay," he said and sighed.
"Too bad, we're leaving."
Then all their fun was ripped from them the second George had to leave. No matter how much he begged to let George stay the night, his parents wouldn't allow it.
So they made a pact to keep contact through letters
-
Dream opened the letter and read it.
Dear Dream,
I really miss you. I am trying to find a way that you can come see me or maybe I can see you without our parents finding out. I miss that pretty face of yours. Just so you know, my birthday is also coming up on the 1st of November. If you can find a way to make it, that would be great. I asked my parents and they said I could invite anyone I wanted and you happened to be the first person I thought of. I hope you can make it.
Sincerely
Love, George
Dream's cheeks flushed reading the note. Sure they had been flirting on and off through their letters for at least a month now but him signing it 'Love, George' just made his heart leap. He knew he was falling for George and fast but this did not help. He wasn't complaining of course, but it didn't solve his problem.
He grabbed a box out from under his bed and opened it, setting the note inside. He put all the notes George sent him in this box. It was special to him and when he was bored, he liked to read them back. He placed the box back under his bed and stood up, walking out of his room and down the stairs of the castle.
"Hey, mom, I have a question," he said.
"What is it?"
"Can I go to my friend's birthday party? It's this weekend and he really wants me there."
"Which friend?" she asked, turning around to face him.
"George..." he said quietly.
"As in the prince?"
"Yes..." he murmured
"Dream, I will think about it and talk to your father about it, but the answer is most likely a no."
"Please, I really wanna go. I haven't seen him in months," he whined.
"I said I'd think about it."
Dream took that as a near definite no.
He walked back up to his room and flopped onto his bed in despair, groaning. He sat up and walked to his desk, grabbing out some paper and a pen, starting his note to George. He knew he would regret it, but he told him he would be at his birthday. If he promised he would be there, maybe his parents would have to let him go, right?
He finished writing it and paused before signing it, debating whether to write 'love' or 'sincerely'.
He decided on love.
