Everyone's pens around me are touching the paper, making scratchy noises. This is the piece of music I call 'The People Who Revised'. Revision? No thanks.
I glance at the first question.
1. If H²O is water, how many hydrogen particles and how many oxygen particles is there in this molecule?
You expect me to know honey? I tear off the corner of the exam paper and scribble on it, "What's the first answer?" I pass the note surreptitiously behind me, to a boy called Kieran and he takes it without a word. I'm glad we have a supply today, otherwise I would have probably been chucked out by now, whether our teacher had seen or not. My Science teachers all hate me.
Someone taps my shoulder and I stretch my arm out behind me without looking. I take the piece of paper silently and look at the blue ink inscribed onto it.
"No clue
Who do you think I am, I don't know what we've even been learning
Why don't you just copy Nervies?"
I sit next to the class nerd. We all call him Nervies, because he's nerdy and always seems nervous. Like, he goes home and studies. IN HIS FREE TIME.
When I go home I check instagram, I post on tumblr, I favourite a few tweets and then message some people on kik. Life's too short to freaking study.
I turn around slowly and give Kieran a thumbs up under the table. I lean over and peek at Nervies' paper. I'm pretty sure he knows I'm copying, but what can I say? He's a wimp, and he doesn't stand up for himself. We're all good.
---
"Kieran! Wait up!" I wave at him from outside the classroom and he stands to the side of the corridor, watching the stream of people walk past.
I pull my hair forwards, so it comes over my ears and a couple of strands fall over my left eye.
"What did she want?"
"Oh she just said how I shouldn't talk in a test, y'know, all the stuff about freaking test conditions and GCSEs, how I'll flop them if I don't get into the habit of tests now." I shrug and soon see a recognisable head in front of me. "Oi, Nervies!" I yell. He turns around, head looking down at the floor.
"What do you want?" He says in a small voice.
"Just wanted to say thanks for letting me copy you in that test. I didn't have a clue, you really helped me out there." I snort and shove him against the wall with my shoulder, chuckling at his reaction. I carry on walking to Maths with Kieran, laughing and talking.

Kieran and I are Maths buddies, like Harriet's my Science buddy and Calum Hood's my English buddy. Harriet's alright I guess, and she seems quite nice, but Calum is hot, so English is now my favourite lesson.
I don't like Calum like that; I don't like anyone. But it makes the other girls jealous and we get on well, so I guess I might call him a friend.
But anyway, Kieran's my Maths buddy, and don't we have a laugh. Between calling each other bullies and complaining about the other being emotionally abusive, we work pretty well together. Because of this, Miss has never moved us. I can fly through Maths anyway, because I'm pretty good at all the numbers and powers and all that rubbish. I'm pretty sure I'll never need it, but it keeps the teachers happy to see I'm getting good grades.
When we reach the classroom, Kieran goes to see another one of his friends, called Josh, and I talk to Calum, who's standing behind me.
"Hey, Calum, have you done your English homework?"
"Oh, yeah, why?" He opens his bag and searches around in it, for a piece of paper. Calum holds it in his hand, a crumpled and torn thing.
"Well, I haven't done mine and I guess I needed someone to copy." I walk into the classroom behind Harriet and sit down in the desk I share with Kieran. Calum's desk is to the left of ours and a little behind.
"Oh ok, come to Miss's room at lunch and you can copy mine." He shoves his bag by his feet and stretches out his long legs, thumbs hooked into the pockets of his skinny jeans (they weren't regulation but they were black, and I don't think any of the female teachers minded because his legs looked killer in them).
"Aww thanks, Cal," I said, "you're my new bestie." He chuckled and I smiled. He was an awesome person and he made me go a little heart eye emoji over him, so I was glad he didn't seem to hate me.
