The engine of my car is powered as I was driving it to get to the school. My eyes was trailing on the road, mesmerizing every single detail that made me noticed that I was then five hundred meters away from there. It was supposed to be quiet as it was seven in the morning but with the vehicles with me on the road, and Fifteen by Taylor Swift banging on the car’s speaker, it’s wonderfully noisy. The traffic light shined red and I slowly stopped the car for the moment. Breathed heavily once, I slowly remembered a glimpse of my dream that woke me up from my deep slumber. His eyes that caught me off-guard in that dream. I sighed as it was supposed to be a lost memory of mine. Years have already passed and I was still remembering it. But no matter how long, if I’d strive hard, I’d surely find him.“Ancora una volta, Ford, I’ll find you. Hindi man ngayon, but soon.” I whispered the same time the traffic light shifted from yellow to green.
When the school’s great form started appearing at my sight, I gulped saliva down to my throat. Sweat became an ocean on my forehead, flowing down to my cheeks and chin. The once comfortable space formed into a sauna that made me feel the opposite of relaxation, stress. And it’s a mystery how my car has already parked at the parking lot of the school. I placed my left hand at my chest where my heart is beating faster and faster every single moment. Breathing in and out, I felt calm and I smiled.
“No need to be worried, Tony. May kaibigan ka naman na dito, just be confident and elegant.” I told myself in a whisper tone as I wandered my eyes around the parking lot.
Vehicles were parked at the place and I could see the gate of the school. Student were slowly entering with their bags filled with excitement and enjoyment. I sighed for I thought the last time and grabbed my bag that was sitting next to me. I pulled out the key and slowly stepped out of the vehicle. I closed-shut the door and locked it. Standing with my bag hanging on my left shoulder and my head high, I stepped towards the main gate.
“Tony!” voice of a familiar one rang in my ears.
But though my name was called, I couldn’t be sure if I was the one being called. It needed for me to hear it three times before I would look at the person, sure enough that it was me.
“Hoy, Tony!”
Say it one more time. I thought.
Walking slowly, I felt my bag being dragged back to my tracks gently.
“Shutang ina. Tony, hindi kaba makapag hintay?!”
That voice. I thought.
I slowly looked towards where her voice came from and when I looked at her, at her eyes, that’s when I realized that I should’ve looked at her when she called me twice.
“Uh… hehe- I’m sor-“ I TRIED to apologise.
“Tama na nga ‘yan, Britt. You don’t even know if nakakaalala pa ba siya sa’tin.”
I looked to the girl that’s standing at her back. She had brown hair falling elegantly and despite of wearing eyeglasses, her eyes were in the lightest of brown. Meanwhile, Britt had a black hair matching here dark brown eyes.
“Oo, nga naman pala. Hehe, I’m sorry, Tony.” Britt told me with her fingers brushing the hair at the back of her left ear.
“It’s fine. Well, do you-“
“Yes! I’m Brittney de Los Santos and of course, this is Macy Buenaventura.” Britt told me, well, INTERRUPTED me, pointing at each one of them.
I smiled at them.
“I’m Tony Brooke, and naaalala ko na. We met at the day of enrollment, right?” I introduced and remembered something.
“Yeah, buti naman at naalala mo. Any who, ba’t di nalang tayo pumasok ng school para dun mag-usap, Oo? Medyo nakaka-abala na tayo dito.” Macy told the both us, realizing that we’re blocking the gateway.
