"Hey Michael we are going to head out now see ya at school tomorrow." I say as my best friend and I start making our way through the throng of people.
Sabrina, my best friend, and I are at a party Michael a friend of mine is holding at his house. “Centuries” by Fall out Boys is blaring in the background.
I can barely hear as Michael shouts, “See ya Katelyn and Sabrina!"
Sabrina and I had walked to the party since it is two blocks from my house and three from Sabrina's. Sabrina and I have been best friends since kindergarten, since then we have caused trouble everywhere we go. We are part of the popular group and I am sort of the leader of it. I have a sister, her name is Ruby. She is 18 and a senior. She is nothing like me with her blond hair and blue eyes shining with happiness, putting everyone before herself. Then there is me with raven colored hair and bright blue eyes, I am 16 and in my junior year.
Sabrina and I are talking about unimportant things such as boys and the latest gossip. (But mostly boys).
"Hey did you hear about the new kid?" Sabrina asks.
“Yah, isn't he a junior?" I reply
“I think so. I think I heard that his name is Blake." She said with a dreamy look on her face.
"Hope he isn't some geek, we already have enough of those already." I groan even though it may sound rude we do have a lot (and I mean a lot) of geeks in our school. Not that there is anything wrong with geeks, it's just that they are awkward and so I don't like hanging out with them very much. I hope the new kid is cute and owns a motorcycle. I know it may be cliché but I really like guys with motorcycles, I think it’s hot. If he is hot I hope he asks me out, that would be so awesome! What would be phenomenal is if he became the captain of the football team, which in turn would make my ex lose his place at the top.
"Well that was fun. Why don't we do this again, like say next week? Whatya say Katelyn, wanna hang?" Sabrina asks bringing me out of my dreaming as my house comes into view.
"Ya totally just call me and I'll be there. See ya later Sabrina." I wave as I cross the street heading for my house. The two story building that I call home, is a lightish brown color with black shutters and a two car garage. Right now there is an eerie shadow cast over our house by our large tree. It is in front of the house on the left side near my bedroom window. There is a full moon and all is quiet outside, except for the sound of my heels hitting the pavement.
I take my key out from my small handbag and open up my front door. All is silent. My parents are in California doing some stupid thing. They are most likely on another vacation, while telling us it’s all business. They are almost never in town.
"Ruby!" I yell out hoping she is awake”. It is only midnight so she should be. She is normally up till one or so in the morning. “Hey Ruby you here? Ruby?" I call out one more time before shrugging to myself. She must have had a busy day and had gone to bed early, although that rarely happened.
I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle. Walking back out I headed for the stairs which is one of the first things you will see once you enter our house. Off to the right of the stairwell there is the kitchen and dining room and on the left is the living and game room. I reached the stairs and I glanced into the living room and I froze. There in front of our couch was my sister lying on the ground, unmoving. Blood pooled around her lifeless body. A knife protruding from her left side where her beating heart should be. Her eyes were still open, which was extremely creepy, and her face was drained of all color.
