My eyes widen at the sight of Axel's icy blue stare. It was him, i thought. But how does he know my name?....
He moves a few seats closer to me, so theres only one empty seat between us. "There's a lot we need to talk about," he says, "but not here."
I don't know what to say, so i just nod.
The next few minutes were spent in silence. My head was spinning with questions, yet i had no idea what to say. Eventually i asked, "umm, so, where exactly are you taking me?"
"I can't answer that right now."
I looked at him again and noticed his hair was once again covering his eyes. "You know, i was taught that running off with random strangers is dangerous..."
He moved his hair out of his eyes and gave me that piercing blue stare and my breath caught in my throat. "You need to trust me," Axle said sternly. "I will explain everything later, just not here. Trust me."
Part of me was screaming, don't trust him! What if he's some axe murderer or something? But another part of me was drawn to him. That part of me wanted to trust him, wanted to go with him, knew I'd be okay. That part of me made the screams from the other side seem small and weak. So i just sat there and was quiet, not asking any questions, not speaking to Axel. I let my mind wander to things such as my mom, Kylie, what could possibly happen when me and Axel get to wherever our destination is, how he knows me.
I think i eventually fell asleep, because before i knew it, the sky was lighter, announcing the early hours of the morning, and Axel was gently shaking my arm. "Kayla, we're here."
I pick my head off the window i was leaning on and sit up. I notice that we are the only people left on the bus. Axel stands up and i do the same, following him off the bus.
He leads me to an old worn down building not, far from the bus stop, that was most likely abandoned. He paused and glanced to both sides before bringing his gaze on me. "Now, don't be alarmed when i do this." He lifts his arm to show me a small black infinity sign on the inside of his wrist. Then he looks at the door, where theres an infinity sign just like the one he has. He lifts his arm and presses his wrist to the door, the two infinity signs giving off a soft blue glow as they meet.
I can't help but stare in wonder. Then i hear a faint click and the door opens slightly. I look at Axel and he gives me a slight nod. "Go on, don't be afraid," he says.
I stand there for a moment, unsure about the whole situation. When Axel senses my hesitation, he moves his hair out of his face, revealing his deep piercing blue eyes. I immediately feel a sense of calm washing over me, and i take a small step into the building. Axel follows, closing the door behind us.
It takes a moment for my eyes to adjust to the dim light. We're in a grey hallway with doors on either side. There are small lights lining the ceiling all the way down the hall, giving off just enough light to see. I squinted my eyes, trying to see where the hallway ended, but it seemed to just go on and on, with numerous doors to open.
Axel moves past me, and i follow. We walk by many doors, all of which are plain black with silver handles that glint softly in the dim light of the hallway.
We walked for a few minutes, until he stopped at a door that looked just like the rest. "Here we are," Axel said in his deep voice. He turned the handle and went inside and i followed, closing the door behind me.
It looked like any regular apartment. We were standing in a living room that contained a couch, a tv, some chairs, and a coffee table. He led me down a small hall and opened a door. "This is the bathroom," he said. He walked down the rest of the hall into what was obviously the kitchen. "This is the kitchen. Feel free to eat anything you want out of here." He led me back down the hall into the living room and down another little hall. There was a door on each side, and nothing but a bare wall at the end. Axel opened the door to our left. "This is my room." I glanced inside and saw a bed, a small table, and a chair. He pointed to a door. "That's my closet." He pointed to another. "That's my bathroom. We both have our own bathrooms." He closed his door and opened the one on the other side of the hall. "This is your room," he said. I stepped inside. My room wasnt any different than his. I looked back at Axel, and before i could say anything, he said, "i will answer questions later. Get some rest." He closed the door and left the room.
I sighed and sat down on the bed. I took out my phone. 5:03 AM. I put it back in my pocket and leaned back on the rather comfortable bed. This isn't too bad, i thought. At least he hasn't killed me or anything. I chuckled lightly and looked around my room, noticing something: there had not been a single window in sight since we arrived. Well that's odd...
Once again i let my mind wander. I thought about anything and everything until i eventually fell asleep.
