I walked into the bathroom and stood in front of the sink, holding the blade in my quivering hand. I took off my jacket and rolled up my sleeve to reveal all my past scars. I haven't relapsed in a while after Fuyumi begged me to stop so all the wounds have scarred over. I lifted my wrist and pressed the blade against my fragile skin. I winced a little as the blood ran down my wrist and dripped on the floor. Fuyumi isn't going to be happy if she finds out. I continued to cut myself until I got up to my elbow joint. I felt slightly dizzy as I washed the blade. Once I disinfected the blade I ran my arm under the cool water. I was careful not to step into the blood that sat still on the tile floor. The cool sensation of the water put me at ease as I closed my eyes to feel the sensation more. Until I heard my bathroom door creak open. I jolted my eyes to the sound only to see my brother standing there in shock. The horror on his face as he looked at my sliced arm punched me in the gut. I didn't even realise I was sobbing and tears were pouring down my face. Natsuo didn't say a word, he just walked towards me and pulled me into a hug. I clutched onto his shirt as he rubbed circled on my back, careful not to go near my bruise.
"Here, sit down and I'll bandage it for you," Natsuo said. I glanced up at him then looked down at the floor and nodded. I sat up on the counter beside the sink and fiddled with my fingers while Natsuo was getting medical supplies from the cupboard. He then put a cloth under the faucet and ran warm water. He rang it out a bit then took my hand and glided the cloth over my torn up skin. I whined quietly at the cloth rubbing against the wounds.
"I know, it'll feel better in a moment," Natsuo said with a calming voice. He then took some thin gauze and layed it across my forearm. He took some bandage and wrapped it around the gauze to secure it all in place. After he made sure everything was good he looked up at me and wiped my tears with his thumb.
"Any others?" He asked. I shook my head slowly and looked back down at the bandage.
"Hey, Shoto, look at me please." I hesitantly looked up at him. He took a deep breath and sighed.
"I know I can't tell you to stop because I know it will only make you feel more guilty about it. So promise me this. Whenever you think you want to do it again just run to someone you trust. Whether that's me or Fuyumi or a friend of yours at school, please just promise me you'll do that for me," Natsuo said as he clasped my hands while a tear ran down his face. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I lifted my hand and signed
'I promise that I'll try' I smiled warmly at him and he burst into tears. He hugged me and thanked me. After that Natsuo helped me pack everything then we went to the kitchen to eat dinner. Surprisingly Natsuo didn't say anything about the event that happened in the bathroom. He might tell my sister about it later but I don't mind. Fuyumi made cold soba for dinner which I happily ate.The Next Morning
I didn't sleep really well. It wasn't because of nightmares or my wounds bothering me even though those happen pretty often. It was because my father kept pacing around the house. I have no idea why he was doing it but I got scared when he'd walk past my room. I imagined he would slam the door open and beat me until I was on the verge of death. Just thinking about the fake scenario sent a shiver down my spine. I got up and went down to get breakfast and when I turned the corner my siblings were both making food. It looked like they didn't get any sleep either. Fuyumi was the first to realise I was there.
"Good morning Shoto," She said with a welcoming smile. Natsuo was fixated on the food he was making so he just waved in my direction. I sat down at the island counter and Fuyumi put a plate of eggs benedict in front of me. She took a lot of cooking classes in high school and she learned how to make things from different countries. She makes really good exotic food. After I ate I went to change my bandage on my arm.At School
Once I got to school I was directed to the location of the new dorms. I turned the hedge to see pretty much everyone from my class waiting in front of the building. Midoriya called me over to the dekusquad once he saw me. I glanced towards the door to the building to see Bakugou slouching on the steps with his friends but quickly looked away when he and I made eye contact. I'm still a little embarrassed and nervous from what he saw yesterday. Aizawa walked up the steps to the deck of the house and got everyone's attention. He explained what to expect and the rules we should follow. After that he told us where our rooms were and gave us the keys to them. Once I got to my room I was about to open it when I saw a blonde figure out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look at the person and it was none other than Katsuki Bakugou. He was opening the door to his room when he saw me looking at him. I rapidly unlocked the door and stepped into my room. I closed the door and slid down it to meet the ground. I covered my face, trying to hide how red my face probably looked. After I calmed down a bit I looked around the bare room. It was a bit smaller than my room at home but I expected that.
After Unpacking
I sat on the floor and leaned against my bed. I was worn out a bit from unpacking. I jolted when someone knocked on my door. I got up and opened the door to be met with the same ash blonde I saw earlier.
'Did you need something?' I signed as he stood in the hallway with his hands in his pockets.
"I just wanted to see if you were ok when you went home," He replied while looking away. I leaned on the doorframe and teetered my hand back and forth. He gave me a slightly worried expression.
'It's nothing I'm not used to' I smiled warmly.
"That's not a good answer for that you know," He subtly scolded. I put my head down and looked at the floor.
'Sorry..'
"I wasn't asking for an- you know what nevermind. Have you eaten lunch yet?" He said as he palmed his face. I looked up and shook my head. He took a step back for me to enter the hall. I followed him to the elevator and he pressed the button to the first floor. When the door opened we walked to the kitchen and I sat down on a stool connected to the counter. Bakugou started making something.
"Do you like spicy food or?" Bakugou asked as he was getting ingredients from a cabinet. I waited for him to look at me so I could respond.
'I don't mind if it's mild or medium' He nodded his head and he began making food. I was subtly watching him cook while I was on my phone listening to music in one ear.
"Yo, what're you guys up to," Kirishima asked as he sat next to me with Kaminari right behind him.
"Making curry idiot, what do you think I'm doing," Bakugou growled. I leaned my head on my hand and continued to look at my phone.
"What are you looking at?" Kirishima asked, leaning closer to look at my phone screen. I signed at him only to remember he didn't understand sign language. Before I could write it down Bakugou cut me off.
"Social media," Bakugou said as he set a plate of curry in front of the three of us. As he was going back to the cooking food he signed 'mild' to me. I warmly smiled and thanked him.
"Hey Bakugou, how do you know sign language so well?" Kaminari asked as he shoveled curry into his mouth.
"I took a lot of classes and practiced a lot for multiple reasons," he said as he added extra spice to his plate of curry.
'Reasons?' I signed as he turned around.
'My quirk hurts my ears a little, I might go deaf in several years if I'm not careful' He signed, clearly not wanting the others to know.
"Hey no fair! We don't know what you two are saying!" Kirishima said with a mouth full of curry. I lightly chuckled.
"Then learn it dumbass," Bakugou said as he took a bite of his food. Kirshima was fake weeping while Kaminari was laughing at him. I was too mesmerized by how good the food was to pay attention to anything else.
'Tastes really good' I signed.
"Glad you like it," Bakugou replied. Momo walked up behind me, startling Kirishima and Kaminari.
"Whatcha eating Shoto?" She asked, leaning over my shoulder.
'Curry, here try it' I signed as I slid it to the side. She took a bite of it and hummed.
"This is really good! Is there any left?" She said, bobbing up at down.
"Yea, give me a second," Bakugou said as he turned around to poor another plate.
"Yaoyorozu, how do you know sign language?" Kirishima asked.
"I've known Shoto pretty much my entire life and when he went mute his siblings helped me learn it," she said proudly as I nodded with her.
"Wait..so that means.." Kaminari was thinking really hard as it clicked in Kirishima's head.
"You've heard his voice!?" He practically screams. I covered my ear since he was right next to me and Bakugou laughed at me for doing so. I flung a piece of rice at him and it hit his eye, causing him to close it. I was giggling so hard my stomach was starting to hurt.
"Yeah I have but that's when we were really young, I bet it sounds different now," She explained as she set her hand on my shoulder.
"Mph!" I yelped as she quickly took her hand off my shoulder. Her expression quickly went from worried to a rageful concern.
"What happened Shoto," She said with murder on her mind. I put my head down.
'Please don't...Not here at least' I signed. She realised what she just did and hugged me.
"I'm sorry Shoto, I didn't mean to lash out like that! I forgot you trained after school yesterday," he said, trying to cover up the real reason for the pain. I looked over at Bakugou and was surprised that he looked like he was ready to kill Momo.
