Mia watched from a distance her chin resting in her palm. Her golden hues glued to the duo haired boy. He was her best friend, her first real love. She watched as he spoke to her. Mia didn't hate her, she was her friend after all, but watching him smile with her and laugh with her gave her a tightening feeling in her chest. She sighed and turned away, not baring to watch any longer. Why did I agree to wait for him again? She thought while getting out of her backpack a bag of pocky and began eating them. Thinking of anything she could to not let seeing that bother her. She took out a notebook and began to draw. Once the finishing touches on her newly drawn dragon, she saw a shadow behind her.
"You seem to really like drawing dragons Mia." She heard his familiar voice say.
"I actually do, there're so many ways to draw them." She tilted her head back to look up at him, and smiled while he examined her for a bit.
"Are you ready to go?" He asked after a while. She tilted her head to the side and smiled.
"Yes, let's go." She got out of her seat and they began walking towards her apartment. She had lived in the apartment by herself, but since Todoroki was always with her he was pretty much living with her.
"How are you? It seems like we never talk anymore." He started looking down at his friend. Mia shrugged her shoulders and softly smiled.
"I've been fine. And I know, I guess we've just been running in different circles nowadays. What about you?" She looked up at him, her golden eyes shining in the sun. He stayed quiet and proceeded to walk inside the apartment.
"You've been avoiding me. Did I say something to offend you?" Mia walked to a cabinet and took out two bottles of water, handing him one.
"What are you talking about? I haven't been avoiding you."
"This is the first time we actually talk in months. At school, you don't sit with us and whenever I show up to whatever group you're in, you leave. In the apartment, you lock yourself in your room or you're never home." He was now standing in front of her. Mia bit her lip and looked away from him. In all honesty, she had been avoiding him. She just couldn't get the idea out of her mind that she was in love with her best friend. Plus the fact that she knew she would never be good enough for him; it was too much for her.
"I've just been busy with helping at the shelter or doing homework. It's not like you've made an effort to talk to me anyways." She whispered that last part and walked around him hoping to hide in her room, but he had other plans. He got a hold of her arm and slightly pulled her back. He hugged her, resting his chin on her head.
"I'm sorry if I've said something to offend you Mia. And I'm sorry I haven't made a real effort to talk to you. You're my best friend, and I don't want you mad at me." He squeezed her softly into him, while her heart softly broke at the word friend. That's all she'll ever be to him, his friend. For whatever reason, at that moment she was ok with it. Mia wrapped her arms around him and squeezed him back.
"There's nothing to apologize for. How about I make you dinner?" She asked him, her voice muffled into his chest.
"We can have movie night with popcorn and candy? To make up for my behavior. Whatever movie you want to watch." He told her. She nodded her head as she pulled away slightly looking at him, he smiled and nodded his head at her.
"I know I don't have to ask but what would you like for dinner?" They had pulled away from one another, her body already missing his body heat.
Todoroki smiled at her, "Cold soba. I'll go buy some popcorn and candy." Mia nodded her head with a smile on her face.
