SIXTH YΣΛЯ
Ryder walked onto the train, buzzing with a coffee and no sleep. His hair brushed along his neck and jawline as he carelessly swept it out his face. He wore the Hogwarts uniform already, nerves making him put it on before he got on the train, so he wouldn't have to change in front of anyone.
His suitcase lagged behind him, and he stumbled when it was yanked backwards. When he turned, he met his brothers dark green eyes, burning with anger as he leaned in close.
"You mess up everything," he hissed, before tossing the suitcase back down. "I was told to keep an eye on you, so I swear the first thing you're bound to mess up is being reported straight back to mum and father. I'm not covering up for your secrets anymore, little shit."
He shoved past him, and Ryder watched him meet up with a group of boys, before marching onto the train. His brother, Albion, was only a few months older than him, and was in seventh year, so he knew that his life here was going to be made into a living hell. Especially since his brother, and probably his mates if he's said anything to them, aren't too happy for him to be transferring here.
Ryder Addington, son of Derrida and John Addington, was a werewolf, and had been since he was ten. This made for a hard life in a Pureblood family, especially when you're to marry off right after you get out of school, and continue to lead the Addington legacy. His family had been searching for cures, but from what they knew there was none. He was less than one mess up away from being disowned, and knowing this he was going to try his hardest to get through these two years with ease, staying low and keeping out of trouble. He could not be disowned, no matter how badly he wanted out of this sick, twisted family.
When the train blows a loud whistle, signalling it would be leaving any moment, Ryder gets a good hold on his luggage before dragging it off as quickly as he could. He walked past the train cars, trying to find an empty one. He would definitely not be joining his brother, who made it known that he was not welcome in his with the glare he threw his way. Finally, he made it to the back, where four boys were sat, chatting among themselves.
"I'm telling you, this is my year. She's finally going to see what a good boyfriend I can be!" A boy with dark hair and tanned olive skin declared, and the other boys snorted while the closest to him, a boy with dark black hair and slightly pale skin but a nice looking face, pats him on the shoulder, nodding endearingly.
They all stopped talking when he opened the car door, giving them a half tilt of a smile as he cleared his throat.
"Mind if I take a seat in hear? The other cars are all full."
The boys glanced at each other before shrugging.
"Alright, no ones stopping you, carry on," says the boy with olive skin. He also had hazel eyes, and glasses that slipped down his nose. A grin rested on his face, and the boy beside him perked up as he leaned around his shoulder.
"The names Sirius, and that's Moony-" with a quick kick to the shins, his smile widens as he clears his throat, "- I mean Remus, that there is Peter, and the fine looking one here is James. What 'bout yours?"
The train lurches as a train whistles, and he stumbled lightly, knocking into the tan- knocking into James. Both hands fly up to hold himself steady as his trunk slid to the end. Another hand was placed lightly on his waist, and a strange feeling made his heart compress as he cleared his throat.
"Alright?" He glanced down at James, who continued to hold him slightly steady, and he nods, picking himself up quickly.
"It's Ryder," he replies, grabbing his trunk and lugging it into the compartment above James.
James glances down, watching the boys shirt tug up, and his eyes widen at the scars that etched his body. He quickly glanced away, pushing his glasses back up his face when Ryder finished, before taking a seat beside Remus and Peter on the other side. James was slightly glad for the distance, because a feeling was sinking into his gut that he couldn't describe.
"So, what year are you going into, you don't look like a first year, but you're not wearing any certain tie," Remus asks him, and Ryder places his hands in his lap, picking at his fingers. He didn't like small talk, it made him nervous and irritated him.
"I'm going into sixth year, but I transferred hear from Durmstrung." His answer is careful, trying not to say to much about himself.
"Eh, I've heard about that school, never fancied it to be honest," Sirius mutters, and Remus snorts.
"You've never even been there, how would you know?"
"Yea, don't be rude, I've heard the school isn't horrible," Peter rushes out, smiling at Ryder as if he was scared he'd be horribly offended by the comment.
"Never minded it much myself, though I hope the food here is at least half as good as theirs," Ryder smiles slightly, trying not to be to incredibly rude or hostile. He had just met these people, and don't seem horrible. It would be to bad if he ended up scaring them off. He hoped his brother wouldn't walk down and see him fraternizing with them, though.
"Oh, the food here is amazing, I doubt Durmstrung could live up to it," James grins, leaning forward slightly, "you'll be in the same year as us, so we can show you around if needed." His grin widens, and Ryders stomach does that funny little flip again as he presses himself into his seat farther, trying not to make a face.
All five boys jump when the door slams open, and a girl with bright red hair and fierce green eyes stormed in.
"James-"
"Yes, my sweet Lily," James grins, leaning towards her. Ryder could swear his smile was wider than it was before, and it looked almost painful.
"We're supposed to be making rounds, if you can't handle job as head boy then say that," she snaps, and Ryder can't tell if he likes her much. James, on the other hand, seemed to like her a little to much, because he just laughed.
"I'll be a minute, just catching up with my mates, Lily darling." Sirius coughed back a laugh as lily rolled her eyes and stormed out, the door slamming behind her.
Ryder didn't know it was possible to slam a sliding door.
James lets out a dramatic sigh, placing a hand over his heart as he grinned foolishly. For some reason, this made Ryder decide he did in fact not like that girl.
"Who was she?" He tried to keep the distaste from his voice.
"Lily, and she's taken," James narrowed his eyes at him, in turn making Ryder roll his.
"Ha! You wish prongs," Peter laughs, making Remus grin as Sirius pats James on the back as he glared at them.
"Lousy bunch of friends I have," he huffs, standing up and leaving the compartment.
Ryder watches him leave, before he's dragged back into a conversation.
