Suddenly the sky grew dark and everyone fell silent. No one knew what was happening. The seraph was nowhere to be seen...

Out of the blue, red light burst from the center of the crowd along with a bone-chilling shriek of laughter. Virgil was too far away to see what was going on, but he was definitely afraid. The same voice who laughed then spoke with a force that caused everyone to cower.

"You who are stained with the deepest hue: come forth!"

No one moved. After a few moments the voice muttered an incantation. At this, every angel with red wings, including Azrael, went limp and fell to the ground. But then their wings turned blood red and they stood back up with a purpose: to find the victim.
Everyone started to panic and flee. Virgil was terrified beyond all means. Where had he heard that phrase before? "Stained with the deepest hue...?" He thought to himself as he tried to fly away with the crowd.

Then he had a flashback. He was standing before the seraph, a little more than a decade earlier. The seraph was observing him closely, then made his statement. "This child is unique and a blessing, for he is stained with the deepest hue."

Virgil came to a halt as he realized what was happening. They're after me. I'm the one they're looking for. All of a sudden, he felt a cold hand on his shoulder and began to slip out of consciousness. Before he fell limp, Virgil heard a chilly voice which could only belong to someone he knew. "Apologies...it had to be done."

Azrael flew back to the center of the city while carrying the sky blue angel. There was a cloaked figure waiting for him. "Have you retrieved the victim?" He asked without turning around. Azrael laid Virgil at his feet and stepped back. "I have done what you asked." The other red-winged angels returned after seeing that their job was done.

"Hmm. You have done well." Azrael brightens up at the compliment. "Thank you, father." The cloaked figure turns around and nods curtly. "Let us return now." He looks towards the sky and another flash of red light appears, shining down on them. In an instant, they were teleported elsewhere. But in that instant, Azrael looked down at Virgil's unconscious figure with a look of regret.

Elsewhere...

Virgil wakes up and tries to gain his bearings. From what he was able to tell, he was in a pitch-black room. He was up against a wall and his head was pounding. As he went to rub it with his hand, he found that he couldn't. He looked up to see that his hands were restrained with chains that were attached to the wall. His wings had also been tied down and his shirt was missing. The young angel was confused, but then he remembered what had happened. Virgil heard voices in the back of the room he was in.

"The preparations are complete."
"What of the victim?"
"Still seems to be unconscious..."

Virgil squints and is able to make out two figures in the dark, one larger than the other. He decides to be brave and speaks. "W-where am I?" His voice was barely audible and came out as a raspy whisper. But the two figures appeared to have heard him anyway. They moved, as if they turned to face him. "Ah, he's come to." The taller figure chuckles. "No worries. Let's begin..."
