Everything was like damned plastic these days. Even the air was plastic, you could even feel the heavy, oily air fall from your wind pipe into the lungs, scorching them, tearing them up. But of course, that was completely harmless, like everything else, like the damned war, the goey plastic food capsules and the filter tinged water, or so those tycoons and the government regularly chanted.

You could see things, teenagers coughing like crazy, hacking away their inwards, nobody making it past fifty bit more Importantly you could feel things, you could feel people preparing themselves for the doom ahead, you could feel the shadow that permeated everything , and  frankly, everyone's soul had absorbed this shadow.

So, in such a world, you should not be surprised if I told you that the bar Stephen Miller was using, was actually the best joint in the neighborhood, was so quiet that you could feel the quietness thumping against your eardrums, the darkness was only kept at bay by low emission lamp, which were extremely low emitting, it would be brighter(and more hopeful) inside a buffoon's ass. Still, stagnant people got to live.

Even the sexy waitress weaving through the bar could not break the silence, for like every promise she was false too, sure you could touch her, but if you were clever enough, you could see the E-M holographer on one of the top corners, producing a beautiful mirage and everybody knew for everybody was accustomed.

Stephen loved this, the silence provided the best cover, and the lights made them all appear like ghosts, and you don't have business with ghosts.

He had a table to himself, and that was not at all suspicious because most of the customers were likewise, alone and trying to get drunk.

Stephen had travelled from city to city inking in the fumes of uncountable cities, moving like rust under a bumper, overlooked and unnoticed but no matter how clever he was, they always found him thanks to the over tangled and tumurous knot of technology that every fool here wore thinking be was having fun,a single note of voice over a transmitter was enough.

But if they knew,he knew too and had been able to skip, but today he was extremely fidgeted, maybe it was the close encounter that he had just escaped or maybe a days hard riding or maybe just the unfamiliarity of the whole place,or that he had just arrived in the city and he had no place to live, but that was not a problem,he could kill someone easily and use a little hole to hide himself, and anyway, nobody cared about anybody else.

Something was tipping him over the edge.He kept taking his cap on amd off, shifting the scarf over his mouth. If he stood up,you would see that he was totally mummified, from longboots to gloves,to a high-collored shirt to a scarf,he had his body buried like a egg under a hen.

But it was also normal, you could cite pollution, radiation or heat or anything.Nobody cared, but reason was different.

Stephen was hyper reacting to a impulse. He had been in danger but today he could see his entire life pass in front of his eyes like a old corny damaged film.

Now 43,he was born in 2022 ,times everybody missed, mindless rap and Olympics and all the unity shits but those were really nostalgic times.

Raised in a atheist family, and cared for by his parents and grandparents equally,he was introduced to death quite late in life when his father succumbed to cancer and his mother to one of those new diseases. They called it, the red flu. That changed his life,he showed aptitude in the medicine field.

Stephen masters surgery and obtained a specialization in four different fields at the same time.Somebody saw this and his acute urge to make this world, disease free and the human body more than just a weak instrument.

At the age of 24,he was introduced to Ryan Soukon and Ben Nice. Both were leading names in advanced physiology, they were said to know human body better than God. Stephen understood their research ,seventeen years of research in a record nine months.
After that he was hired by the survive group of pharmacies. He took up a research project and in under seven million dollars, came up with a breakthrough, synapse booster, that tripled the immunity of a person for a period of a week and helped to save billion of lives.
