My mind still caves at the thought of her. Her hands on my mouth like a sycamore thunderstorm—in this prequel, the lovers are silent & only shine when basked in pitch black shadows—every corner of her was suffocating underneath the vining roots she grew on the surface of my bones: live upon my flesh so I understand what devotion is. I think I miss her. Her and her swan hands and how they circle around my poison ivy neck, her and her withering breaths that pass through my lips like a nicotine puff—I could have sworn they made my lungs prickle with thorns. I think I love her.
But no kiss good enough to carve her. No hug, no love, no spell, no me is good enough to stain her of us. It's mortifying to be the one who carries the memories.
