(please note I take no credit whatsoever to the creation of this simply due to the fact that i'm sure someone else has thought of this)

What Is The "Short Story" Method?

What I have decided to call the "Short Story" method  is exactly what it sounds like: A short story! What this means is that you take your script (if you don't have one that's completely fine all you need is the DR you want) and make a short story from it, starting off in the morning in your CR and going throughout a day you normally do and then that you end up shifting through your normal routine. So say if your the type of person that when you decide to shift you dont follow the "drink ten cups of water, meditate, listen to subliminals, blah blah blah" crap and instead all you do is randomly go "Dang you know what sounds good right now? Shifting to Hogwarts." as your laying down to go to sleep, WRITE THAT! Be realistic and write in the story what you do and how you usually think, even write down that you acknowledge your doubts!!! The trick to this is to make it as close to your actual CR selfs way of thinking and expectations as possible!

The Science Behind The Method

Listen, I know this sounds way too simple for this to work and I'm sure you're already doubting it but listen to this: That doesn't matter at all. Wanna know why? When you're reading your brain actually can't tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Pretty cool right? So no matter how much you doubt and think it won't work, well i'm sorry to say it's working anyways! You're brain literally is thinking that what you're reading is real and that it has happened or it is happening as you read. Though part of your brain knows it's not real and hasn't happened it still can't help but get fooled and believe. Don't believe me? Here's a little research on it for you to read for yourself!

- http://m.nautil.us/blog/most-of-the-mind-cant-tell-fact-from-fiction (paragraph four, but you can read all of it if you want :D)

So How Does This Work?

This ties in with the science behind the method, when you read the short story after you write it, if it's written in close enough detail to your natural CR self at the beginning and have smooth enough (doesn't have to be JK Rowling smooth) descriptions and transitions you can legit trick your brain to think this has already happened, with it creating new gained knowledge and it thinking you've already shifted: WABAM! It'll make your shifting process just a tad bit easier because your brain already thinks it's done it before and has false memories of the experience thanks to your lovely descriptions of the process. You don't have to be an amazing writer, just try to detail out your surroundings, five senses when necessary, and make that start before you write that you have shifted as realistic and close to you as possible you're fine!

What Do I Need? Is There A Step Process?

All you need is the ability to write, whether it's on your phone, computer, a physical journal, legit anything that can allow to write the story! No there's no process or steps whatever! This is the gold point of this method: It's all up to you and has only the limits of your imagination and patience! If you want to make the story 20+ chapters GO RIGHT AHEAD! Is writing not your thing and you can only write for a short period and want a single page? THAT'S OKAY! You can seriously do anything you'd like as long as you start with yourself in your CR in a realistic routine then add how you shift and have it be successful and an initial reaction and description of your senses when you arrive to your DR!

If you'd like a short basis layout to go off or a regulation to go off if you're an organized person here's a little list for you! Remember this is OPTIONAL!

- Start of the day in your CR (first person, waking up, normal thoughts, routine etc)
- midday (add school, work, walks, religious practices, whatever you do on the daily to have your brain connect)
- Night (your normal night routine and thoughts, even if it gets depressing your brain will notice that thats you based on your everyday habits and connect it!)
- Shifting (your normal shifting routine even if all you do is shower, add the symptoms you usually feel, if you dont feel symptoms thats okay you can say you dont feel anything then just drift off and wake up there)
- Shifting Result (initial arrival at dr, surroundings, five senses, what you look like, even add your freak out)

How Will The Example Work?

I, when I first thought of this idea, NEEDED to add an example because I know there are people who need to see a short example to have it click in their brain and make it easier to understand. So what I decided on is to just use my own Esports DR short story i've been making for myself to help myself shift and also give my script for those using a script to assist them in writing to allow them to note connection and see how to string together details in a good manner so that it doesn't seem thrown in to just be there for the sake of being there. Starting next chapter I will give my own script (with the personal information changed slightly for privacy reasons), the chapter after that will mark the start of the short story and it will continue being updated until i finish the short story. You guys will be getting the ENTIRE story, not just a snippet! So if you do also want a new story to read this can double as that too!

Update Schedule Please!

Sorry to say I work full time even though I'm only 17, the update schedule will not be too consistent....HOWEVER! I will be making it a requirement that I update this one a week (the day will be random im sorry) on the minimum so you won't have to get stuck with a story stuck at a 3 months wait time.

Conclusion

I hope I will see some of you reading this stick around to accompany me on my DRs short story writing journey. I will give updates on my shifting journey as well and update on notable changes or experiences. If you are bidding a farewell here that is fine too! I'm glad to hopefully assist any shifters of all experience level, i hope you enjoyed this little explanation of this different approach for shifting and try it out if you like the sound of it! Thank you so much for reading if you are leaving here, and if you're sticking around to read the story, whether for the story or just for an example, I will see you guys soon!
