"Happy birthday Alex! You're TWO today!"
Alex stretched a small, proud smile across her face as she softly patted the brown rabbit that lie across her lap. Life was not easy for the now-two-year-old, she had a large scar across her pale forehead and one across her arm. They were the only remnants of her last day with her father, when the truck flew out of control and washed the small white perjeout of the road.
The blunt force trauma murdered her dad the second the car left the road, however, by pure miracle, Alexis green was spared.
Money had always been tight for the green household since mr. green's passing, but they made do with what they had.
Now, the once traumatised six-month-old-who-just-escaped-death was turning two.

Alexis' small brown rabbit that she had found in the Forest surrounding the small cottage broke from its still, silent state, and made a bounding leap for the open back gate.

Alex got up to chase after it. Her mother always had no problem with her exploring the forest, it reminded her of how her husband once used to roam the very same woods.

Alex made her way up the small slope and ran into the dark green wonderland. Her fathers true home.
Alex followed the quick brown blur on her small feet, until it was out of sight. She sighed and turned home. Slowly walking back over the fallen leaves and sticks. She truly hadn't realised how far she had run until she was re tracing her own steps.

She had been walking for a while when she heard a rustle behind her.
Hope rushed through her that her rabbit had returned to her in her ignorant two year old mind.
She turned to be facing a small boy, he looked to be about the same age as Alexis.
He has bright green eyes and dark brown curls. He looked like the forest himself.
"H-hello." Alex stuttered. The boys eyes went wide. The stared into Alexis brown ones. He immediately swung around and started running off. "Wait!" Alex yelled. She ran after him but tripped on a branch little less than metre from where she started. All she could do was lie on the ground and watch the little green eyed boy run away.

Little did she know this was the closest she'd ever get to the boy, but not the only time shed see him.
