Alexis runs about in her oversized uniform after her first day of school.
"Mummy do you think daddy can see me now that I'm a big girl?" She asked
Alexis had always thought that her dad could see her if she was tall enough. Little did she know her dad had been watching over her for a long time
"I'm sure he can sweetie" Alexis' mother replied. The biggest smile stretched across her face.
She only smiled like that when her auntie returned from the big city with a new present for her, or when flowers from the other side of the forest randomly pop up on our doorstep.
Alexis truly believes they are from her father, her mother always humoured her naïve daughter.
"C'mon now, you don't want to be late" Alex's mother hurried her to the back gate. once again there was a beautiful rose beside the gate. There was one every morning without fail. It had always been a mystery to the two Greens.
Alex clasped the purple flower in her hand, careful to not touch the thorns. She had learned from many past experiences that they hurt."Here" Alex's mother took the rose from her hand, and placed it neatly in her golden brown hair.
She gave her daughter a small kiss on the forehead and told her to enjoy her first day of school.
Her mother wasn't going to walk her, Alex had walked the forest many times and her mother had not returned since her fathers death; and didn't intend on.
"Bye mummy!" Alexis yelled as she turned and darted off into the forest. She was skipping alone in the evergreen leaves surrounding her.
An orange butterfly swooped down and flew around infront of Alex. She fumbles about trying to catch it, she's so focused on the butterfly she didn't even realise the now-older-boy-with-the-same-eyes standing a few feet infront of her.
She stopped swatting the butterfly and stared into his beautiful eyes, oh how beautiful they were.
Alexis had come across this boy a total of two-and-a-half times in the last four years- the half meaning she saw him, and he didn't notice her. She didn't count that as meeting him, so she simply called it a half.
Despite their three 1/2 meetings in their lives, the green eyed boy was still yet to speak a word to Alexis.
"Hi..?" Alex spoke, unsure of what to say.
"What's your name?"Fear flashed in the young boys eyes. Alex noticed something was wrong
"I-I'm sorry I didn't-" "it's okay" he spoke for the first time. His voice was rather raspy, almost like he hadn't ever spoken before, or the only vocal noise he'd ever made in his life was screaming.
She stared at him in bewilderment. He has spoken for the first time.
"I-I've gottogo" he spoke up. He strung all his words to make one word. Maybe he was as shocked and scared as Alexis.
But before Alexis was able to reply, he turned and ran
