I had enough.
I knew she was a problem but not to this extent.
Now that I'm wiping my blood off my face at home, with little to no concerns from my 'friends' and maman and papa ready to go back to that useless school, I decided I have no choice anymore.
Looking back to earlier just fuels my barely-contained rage.
"How could you say that to Lila, Marinette?! She just wants to be friends!"
"Alya, I could care less about Lila than you do about me right now. When is that gonna get through your head?"
I was tired of everyone trying to force this girl on me. Before I could walk away from Alya, she slapped me, her nails scratching me and leaving the class around us silenced at the ring in the air.
"HOW DARE YOU SAY I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU?! YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS OF LILA, GET OVER YOURSELF!"
I looked at her, watching her shiver at the probably dead look in my eye. I gathered my things, the class watching me. Lila smirking behind Alya and her hair, Adrien looking angry, conflicted, and horrified. He tried to reach for me, but Lila dug her hand into him again, stopping him in his tracks. I nodded to him.
Only one of us could be here right now, and he needed to stay in school.
I walked out, past a complaining Mme. Bustier and Mr. Damocles, past the silent class, past my worried parents, and up to lay in my loft bad with Tiki hovering over me and kissing my injured cheek, falling asleep on me not long after.
I should have handled all this sooner. Thinking on it more now, I still can, starting with myself.
I pulled out my phone, blocking everyone in my class, minus Adrien, on everything, screenshoting every evil thing they ever said to me, and turning my phone off. I looked at myself in the mirror. Skin ghostly pale, eyebags dark as night, and messy clothes and hair.
Time for a makeover. A huge makeover .
My mom knocked on my trapdoor, Tikki hiding in her little room I made her. She looked worried, and rushed to hug me, leaning back to stroke my cheek with a sad and terrified face at my expression. "Marinette, what happened?! What have they done to you, my child? Do we need to bring the school into this?" At that and the touch, I flinched.
I guided her over to my daybed and sat next to her, leaning on her shoulder. "I tried bringing it to the school before, and all that got me was expelled. Alya was yelling at me, and when I tried to walk away, she slapped & scratched me." At that, Maman gasped, her eyes tearing up. "I can handle this, Maman, but I need you and Papa to support me, no matter what anyone else tells you. Please promise me that." She hugged me to her chest, tears getting into my messy hair. "Always, my love. I promise ." I squeezed her back, and for the first time in a while, cried quietly on her shoulder.
We stayed that way for what felt like hours, but was only a few minutes at most. She pulled away, standing up and stroking my unharmed cheek. "We need to bandage you up, I'm pulling you out for the next few days to recover." "Thank you, Maman. 4 should be enough for me to get what I need done." At that, she turned back to me, confusion on her face. " What do you mean by that?" I smiled a little at her. " I have a plan, but I need 4 days to do what I need to do. Mainly stuff for myself, nothing bad I promise." She hugged me again before going to the stairs back down. " Alright, Marinette. Get some rest, I love you." "Love you too, Maman, and Papa too." With that, she shut my door and Tikki flew back out to me, nuzzling my neck and wiping her tears away from her little face. " What are you gonna do, Marinette?" I held her up and carried her to my bad, laying us both down.
" I'm going to do something selfish for once and change for me."
Hope y'all like the new style, I wanted to write something a bit self-indulgent, but good for you guys. Next chapter will be out 7pm tomorrow.- j
