Kaylah Revlon

It was about midnight when I snuck down the prison stairs after shoving the wooden doors aside, clear passage. It is hard to see in the darkness, the torch on the side of the wall was as small as a candle light. "Mave?" I quietly ask the dark. "kaylah?" I hear his voice in surprise and smile. "I told you that I would get you out." I proudly say and push the iron key in the lock. "Voila." I show my happy teeth smile as the cell's door opens without any resistance. "How did you get the key? How did you even manage to stay in the castle unnoticed?" He asks me as I start to unlock his chains. "I think that you would have to thank my underdog skills and your fellow prisoner for." Maverik looked confused, I could see his frown in the dark as clear as in the light. "I may have stolen a dance from the king." I confess in a soft tone, hoping that he will not- "You did what?!" I quickly put my finger in against his lips. "Sssh, they cannot hear us." As soon as his hands were free, he used them to hold my jaw. His eyes scanning my body rapidly. "Are you okay? Does he know that you stole his key?" I've never seen this man so worried about anyone, not even about himself. "Calm down, I'm still breathing. You're still breathing." Maverik shook his head. "Not for long, not if he finds out. You need to return that key right now." He turns my body around and pushes me out of the prison, up the stairs and closes the doors behind us.

"We should get the hell out of here, now that we still can." I propose to Mave. He only shakes his head from side to side and takes the key out of my hand. "You're leaving, make sure no one sees you. I will stay here and as soon as I'm able to I will find you. Okay?" I grasp his palm and with my other hand, I hold the key, my muscles working it's hardest to keep him from taking it. "I'm not leaving you when he can easily lock you up again." His eyes scan the corridor, looking for spies. Whether they are spying for Lastar or Tallis, does not matter at this very moment. "I can't leave. Only when he gives me my freedom again, I can. He is expecting me to break myself out and return to my place beside him. And I will do just that, but he can't know that you are involved with this Kaylah." Every inch in my body tells me that he won't be safe, even if Rei needs him. "Trust me." His words distract my head from its thoughts and compel my eyes to look at him. "I will be fine." A little smile, a fake one. He himself doesn't even know what will happen next. "You are blamed for treason, Mave. Do you think the king will go easy on you? He suspects you for meddling with the people that killed his parents and tortured his sister. He won't go easy on you, you won't be fine." Mave holds my body, soft and caring as he plants a kiss on my forehead. Leaning his chin upon my head and wrapping his hands around my smaller torso. "I will because I will find out who snitched about his plans with Ember."

He can't.

"O-okay, but make sure that you reach out to me again if you do. Promise?" I ask. Hoping that he won't catch the lie. "I promise." He smiles and takes the key out of my hands after kissing my forehead, leaving me in the cold corridors of the castle to fend for my own.

I take a deep breath and watch my feet. What am I supposed to do now? Deciding to just leave as Maverik told me to, my eyes watching my surroundings with care as I pass numerous hallways and chambers of people that might out me for who I really am. It was never my intention to get Mave caught and it was never my intention for Ember to lose contact with the king. Deep down I know that Sena has him, she might even be testing her little project on him as I'm trying to escape without being spotted.

Even though that I am human, weak and opposed to any kind of magic. I find myself caring for the people that I'm supposed to take down with the leader of this kingdom.

fuck, how did I get myself in this shit?
