Caroline.

I rub the back of my head where one of Luca's men smacked me with their gun. After I had struggled with them to leave the Fairmont in Toronto, they had become more aggressive with me and I ended up passing out from the impact of gun. I had briefly woken up in the plane on the way to Chicago, I knew Luca was taking me back to Chicago because it's very typical of him to stay within his comfort zone. Where else would he take me?

My consciousness wore off relatively quick and I dozed off again before Luca could notice I have come to. The next time my eyes fluttered was when I was thrown over a man's shoulder a little more aggressively than I would like, he was carrying me down a long set of stairs into a dark room. Again, I passed out.

Now I'm fully conscious. I can barely see anything around me due to the dim lighting of this room but my eyes begin to adjust after ten minutes or so. It's clear that I'm in a basement, not a well maintained one, either. The floor is concrete and the walls are brick. As I squint my eyes I see chains dangling from the wall with cuffs attached and my eyes widen suddenly.

This is not a joking matter, this is the mafia and I'm in so deep at this point I don't know if I'll get out of this alive. I was raised to have a fight reaction rather than flight. I don't run - so even though I'm dealing with a seriously dangerous man, I can't back down. I'm going to die either way, but there's no way I will go down without fighting.

I'm not sure why Luca never instructed his men to chain me up or anything, but he have allowed me to freely walk around which was a bad decision on his part because I his men had mentioned Luca coming to see me soon - as soon as the door opens, I plan to be ready for him.

I begin to question what their idea of soon is when a lot of time passes, I'm not sure exactly how much time because my phone is gone from my pocket but it feels like hours before I hear someone unlocking the basement door.

My eyes search around the area for anything I can find to defend myself and the best I can come up with is a wooden broom stick. A freaking broomstick is my only defense, this is ridiculous.

I quickly grab the broom stick and hides myself underneath the steps, as someone opens thee basement door and begins taking slow steps down the stairs. He steps onto the stair in front of me and I recognize the shoes - it's one hundred percent Luca. Son of a bitch.

"Caroline..." He says my name in a sing-song voice as he steps onto the concrete floor, "What are we doing? Playing hide and seek? I always win, sweetheart."

I can practically see the smirk in his voice and I grip onto the broomstick tighter. He thinks this is a game but this is my life! He isn't even taking me seriously. I don't bother to respond but I watch him walk around the basement, looking behind each wall but there really isn't far to go. He fiddles with a doorknob that's clearly locked.

"Now, there's no way you got in here. So where could you be?"

Luca steps closer to the steps again and stops, turning his back to me to look around the basement. I take this as my opportunity to move from where I'm hiding and swing the broomstick towards Luca. He reacts quickly, grabbing the broomstick before I can even hit him with it. With his hand still holding the broomstick, he turns around quickly and uses it to pin me against the wall.

The broomstick is pressed against my neck and causing my breathing to hitch. Luca's eyes meet mine, tilting his head in a psychopathic way, "Do you really think I'm that stupid?"

I cough, getting a small amount of air in my lungs, "N-No... I..."

"I've accommodated you so well, Caroline. I didn't have you chained to the wall, did I? And this is how you repay me?" He arches one of his dark brows and I can see his grip on the broomstick tighten from his anger, "Never try to outsmart me because it won't happen. Are we clear?"

I nod my head slowly, trying to speak but I can feel myself becoming lightheaded. Luca removed the broomstick from my neck and I fall to the ground, gasping for air. As he throws the broomstick across the room, I hear is bounce off of the floor. I continue to hold my neck as Luca leans down with his elbows on his knees, looking at me.

"I said... Are we clear?"

"Yes," I answer reluctantly.

"Good," He smiles at me and tucks my hair behind my ear, "Then we won't have a problem."

His eyes travel to my belly and I can see that he's deep in thought. I'm sure he has many questions but at the same time he has the resources to find things out himself - it wasn't hard for him to find me, after all.

"How far long are you?" He asks me. I stay silent and he quickly becomes irritated with me, "Answer the damn question, Caroline."

I clench my jaw, looking at him with hate in my eyes, "Seven months."

"Two months to go, huh?" He hand touches my belly and it takes everything in me to not slaps his filthy paws off of me. A smile forms on his lips, "And do we know what we're having?"

I shake my head, "No. I don't want to know."

My reason being that I had planned to give the baby away after birth. The less I know, the better. I'm not sure if Luca buys it but he doesn't question me any further.

"I have your doctor's records, it seems the baby is in good health."

Of course he has my doctor records. I ignore him and decide that it's my turn to get answers, "You're not seriously going to keep me down here, are you?"

"After the stunt you just pulled you expect me to let you roam free?" A chuckle escapes his lips and he narrows his eyes at me, "You really think I'm that stupid. Listen, Caroline. There's a lot going on upstairs and truth be told, you're probably better off staying down here for a while."

My heart sinks in my chest as I realize I could be down here for a really long time, "Luca, please. I don't want to stay down here. It's creepy, honestly. If you're going to kidnap me, at least give me a nice place to sleep."

"This isn't about kidnapping you. I was getting what is rightfully mine which is my child that you decided to keep from me," He snaps, standing up ad running his fingers through his hair in frustration, "You have no idea how much that pisses me off."

"You told me to run!" I argue, grasping at straws to get some kind of leeway with him, "So I did. You wanted me safe, Luca. You said so yourself so why are you suddenly retracting that statement?"

Luca falls silent and he simply looks at me, pursing his lips together in thought. Maybe I finally caught him, maybe this will put things into perspective. He shakes his head, "After the baby is born you can leave again. I meant what I said about wanting you to run away safely, but that doesn't include taking my blood with you."

"I'm not leaving that baby with you and this family."

"Then I guess we'll be seeing each other quite a bit, won't we?"

I'm not sure what happened to him. Maybe he was just a good actor but before I learned his secret, Luca was different. I would have never suspected that he be such a monster or would treat me the way he has. But here we are, I'm held captive in his basement and he's spewing threats at me.

Did he ever actually care or was that all a really good act? I feel like I'll never know but even if Luca were to show his decent side, I could never forgive him for everything that he has done to me.
