Y/n looked up at Hogwarts, admiring the grand and enticing castle. A million thoughts were racing through her head at once as Hagrid instructed all of the first years to head toward the boats. Y/n began to make her way to the small and beautifully lit dock drawing Draco's curious gaze as she wandered over, completely oblivious of who was in the boat she had just stepped into as an excited chatter filled the air.
She realized that to her dismay she had ended up on the same boat as the infamous Draco Malfoy, their eyes locked as a look of hatred spread onto his face. She was already well aware of his stuck up attitude and unforgettable reputation, everyone else seemed to somehow put up with it which was something that she would never be able to understand. After an awkward journey across the dimly lit lake where there were whispers and glances from Draco and his goons, they had made it to the imposing doors of the school.
All of the first years were met with a tall and slightly impending looking woman.
"Welcome to Hogwarts" She started "The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. The four houses are known as Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Your house will be like your family and will be a crucial part of your time here at Hogwarts. Please feel free to chat amongst yourselves and you will lead into the hall and called up to the stool momentarily." and with that, the Professor left the area and headed into the grand room.
Y/n stared up at the candlelit ceiling above her as they were lead through the Great Hall. Her dark hair fell gently onto her face as she anxiously watched the others get sorted.
"Abbot, Hannah." Professor McGonagall called from the parchment she held.
Y/n was growing more and more uneasy with each name called.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
"I hope you don't get into Slytherin Harry, every wizard who has been put in there has gone bad"
She turned to see where the remark came from and was met with the eyes of lanky, judgmental looking, flaming red haired boy.
'Could I get put in Slytherin, no it wouldn't be that simple..'
"Granger, Hermione."
A bushy-haired girl tensely made her way up to the stool whilst reassuring herself.
A good few minutes passed...
"It'll have to be..."
"GRYFFINDOR!"
A few more names were called including Draco's, who was sorted into Slytherin before the hat even touched a hair on his head and y/n was really starting to dread the calling of her name.
"Potter, Harry"
The hall went silent.
'The Harry Potter?!' Y/n thought as she fixed her posture to get a better look.
Whispers could be heard throughout the Great Hall.
"GRYFFINDOR!" The hat bellowed as the Gryffindor table filled with cheers and applause.
"L/n, Y/n."
Y/n's heart started racing and she felt lightheaded by the time she had reached the rickety stool. She was filled with fear, what if she was in Slytherin? She couldn't be, she was already half-vampire and being put in Slytherin would seal her fate and she'd be done for. She was taken away from that thought for a moment as she heard a voice invade her train of thought.
"An L/n...I haven't seen one of yous in ages. Hmm, let us see...cunning, brave, passionate..your father did greatly in Slytherin you know, could you possibly continue what he had started?" the hat contemplated "Or perhaps, you could have a new start, bring something new to the legacy your family oh so needs after all these years hmm?" at this point Y/n was sweating and gritting her teeth in anticipation. She didn't want to be in Slytherin whether it depended on her life or not...
Corrupt thoughts circled her in her head as the hat went on.
She was snapped back to reality as she heard the boisterous voice rung through the school hall,
"SLYTHERIN!"
