Screams!
Sounds of screams was what I heard the moment the cage door closed behind me. I wondered where they were coming from and it took me a moment to realize they were my own. I was lying on my back on the cage floor, thrashing. My eyes were closed as I felt my head starting to hurt and my body starting to ache.
"Ky... help... me!" I whimpered out through the screaming.
"Just breathe, Amira. Your body is already use to it, but your mind is not." Ky responded calmly. "The pain isn't really there, just try calming down."
I did what I was told and started breathing steadily. The aching subsided, but then I started panicking when I heard something cracking. I opened my eyes and saw my right arm bent the wrong way. I let out another round of screams as I shouted at Ky.
"What's... happening... to me?"
"You're shifting." Ky responded empathetically as my left arm bent this time and I let out another scream. What did she mean I was shifting, wasn't I a Witch?
"Now please, try to calm your mind or you won't get through this pain-free."
I let out another scream as I was angered by the knowledge that I was shifting. How was this possible? I focused on steadying my breathing as I wanted the pain to go away. After a couple of deep breaths, I began to calm myself and in an instant, everything else happened so fast. My body flipped over on its own accord and my legs began to crack and bend the wrong wat. I was on all fours now and then my spine began to crack as well. This whole time I couldn't close my eyes, it was like the shift was preventing me. I watched as my fingers grew long and sharp, and I knew at that moment I wasn't a Werewolf. I felt my face stretching, my eye sight enhanced, my sense of smell enhanced, and my hearing enhanced. When it was all set and done, I looked down at my body and it was covered in white almost blondish hair. I lifted both my front claws up and I was now standing on my two feet. I was whipped on the face by something fast and soft which ended up being my long and furry tail. That's when the realization hit me...
I was a Lycan!
"Amira?" I quickly turned my attention to Ky as I had almost forgotten she was there.
"Oh thank goodness. It's really you and not the beast." I gave her a look of confusion at her words. She realized my confusion and explained.
"Since you couldn't remember your transformations, you were just a mindless beast." I whimpered at her words, I didn't like the thought of not being able to have control of my body.
"Now rest, Amira. We'll discuss more about this in the morning." I nodded at Ky and I instantly felt exhausted, but right before I fell asleep, I heard Ky mumble lowly to herself.
"If you're anything like Kieran, you'll be okay." Where had I heard that name before?
The next time I woke up, the cage door was left opened and I was wrapped in a blanket. I stood up and grabbed on tightly to the blanket realizing that I was naked underneath.
"Ky?" I shouted as I walked out of the cage. Ky walked out of our room with my clothes in her hands.
"Go get ready. I know you have a lot of questions, but we must start our journey."
I grabbed the clothes from Ky and made my way to the bathroom. I took a shower in our makeshift bathtub, just like this whole underground place, Ky had enchanted the shower to be able to provide water. Ky had breakfast ready when I finished getting dressed. I had on black joggers, a mahogany colored crop top, and a black leather jacket with a hoodie attached to it. I sat down at the table and stared at Ky while she plated my meal. Ky smiled at me as she placed the plate in front of me. She sat down on the chair opposite of me and spoke.
"You know what you are, right?" I nodded as we stared at each other.
"I'm a Lycan," Ky nodded.
"Yes, you are."
"How is this possible? I thought I was a Witch. Weren't my parents Witches?" Ky had on a small smile at my questions.
"You're parents didn't know, but your father had Lycan gene."
"Where are my parents?" I asked since I didn't have any memories of them or anything at all. Ky's smile turned into a sad one.
"Both your parents died the night you were born. You were raised by your mother's sister and I too have always been there by your side since your birth."
"I never knew my parents?" I said softly to myself as I looked down at my plate.
"I know she loved you very much, a mother will always love their child even before knowing them." I noticed the nostalgic look in Ky's eyes when she said that. Was she speaking from experience? I gave her a small smile, but I had to ask her one thing.
"How did they die?" Ky grabbed my hand that was on the table and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"I don't know, Amira. I had only shown up in this world the moment you took your first breath. The other Witches never told me what happened and every time I tried to look into the past, it's as if someone blocked that event from ever being seen."
"How is that possible?"
"Many things are possible in this world, such as my existence. I am the only Familiar in this world." My mouth hung open at this revelation and Ky smiled at my shock. "I will reveal many things to you soon, but not until we find how to get your memories back. For two months I have been searching for someone who can help with that and maybe be able to unblock the events leading to your parents' death." I nodded and smiled at the thought of getting the answers to many things about my life.
"Eat up, you'll need all your energy once we leave from here." I dug into the delicious chicken and waffles she made. Half hour later, Ky and I were ready to leave out of this underground place, forever.
"One last thing," Ky stopped us from leaving. "I want you to have this." She handed me a necklace with a small glowing white gem hanging from it.
"It's a moonstone?" I asked. I had seen a picture of it in one of the books. "It's beautiful."
"It belonged to your father. It had been passed down from generation to generation to give to a daughter. You are the first daughter to be born in your father's lineage."
"Really?" I said softly as this was shocking to know as well. Ky smiled and nodded.
"Again, I will reveal many things soon." I wanted to push more for information, but I knew this was something Ky didn't want to get into just yet.
At that moment, I didn't know how connected Ky's life was to mine, it went far beyond a Familiar and Witch connection. But I was soon going to find out.
