A couple days later, after James had been met by her ex-husband, everyone at the station were on edge. Those that knew James were fearful for her. She had been quiet for a few days and no one knew exactly what had happened. Although everyone at the station was affected in some way there was only one person that stuck out the most.

Travis Montgomery. For rather obvious reasons.

The man, at the moment, was stressed out of his mind, his best friend might be losing her daughter and he couldn't let that happen. She had worked hard to be the best mother she could once Ryder left, and no one was going to get in her way. Travis would be sure of it.

At the current moment, Travis and Emmett were at their lockers getting dressed after their showers. When Jack walked by. "Hey, I heard, uh, Vasquez goes home today." he paused after breaking himself out of his earlier trance, "How you doing, Jack?"

"Half the team still won't look at me, but the shiner's gone." he said smiling, but almost as soon as it appeared it disappeared and Andy walked in "But, uh, enough about that. James hasn't shown up in a while. Are you good? I know you guys are close or whatever." he said looking between the three of them, but still pointing his statement towards the two men rather than his house mate.

Both men sighed looking down at the ground, ultimately almost everyone in the tiny space between the lockers felt almost guilty for their friend's distress. But, alas there was nothing they could do at the moment. That was between James and Ryder.

"No, she, uh, I don't really know? I've been trying to get her to leave the office, or even come out for her girlfriend but that's not working at all. All I know is that she's just sitting there not letting River leave her side and calling in sick. But, like, I know she isn't sick. I'm just worried about her..." suddenly he stopped talking, feeling as if he had said too much.

"I think I might know how to help, but I doubt if she's not speaking to you then that she wants to speak to me." Emmett added. Travis turned and looked towards him with a sudden burst of what could only be assumed as excitement. Noticing this, he continued, "Yeah, uh, back home when we were younger she would sometimes come back from track she would be really upset and we would kinda just sit there and I would just hug her and let her cry, but that was when I didn't understand what was going on so..." he then stopped, afraid to tell the team something so personal that not even James had told Travis.

"I might've said too much..." Emmett quickly turned around and back towards his locker, continuing to put his shirt on. Travis sighed and walked away.

The team had just been called out to assist Gibson and Herrera at the pawn shop. In the truck it was Bishop, Dixon, and most importantly Montgomery. Throughout the 10-minute drive, Travis had been trying to call and text his friend as many times as he could to tell her he loves her. Every single time though, she wouldn't reply.

His attempts were fruitless. She never picked up, and he knew, in the back of his mind, that she would do something like that. "Why do you keep calling her?" Emmett asked Travis.

"Because it seems that no one else gives a damn that one of our friends, our sister, is going through something tough and no one is even trying to help her! And I know she's not sick. I know that she's taking this time to just be with River and to make sure she knows she's loved! But, that's not right! She shouldn't have to do this, and she especially shouldn't have to go through this alone. I'm worried for her and I think you two should at least try to be there for her. At least show her that you care even the slightest bit." he paused.

Maya looked down. "She's done this before. When we were younger, James was like 15, I accidentally outed her to my dad. So he practically told the whole town. And she kinda just sat in her room for like a week and didn't come out for anyone." Emmett explained, extremely disappointed by his 7-year-old self's actions.
