1. Take your neighbourhood in 22 years' time. Write an opening describing your street.
2. Think of a villain from history. Imagine you're both teenagers in school detention together.
3. Google your own name. Find somebody with the same name. Write a piece describing the thoughts he/she might have whilst brushing his/her teeth.
4. Which two of your friends get on the least well? What if they were the only ones who could save the world and they had to work together?
5. Think about the last good decision you made. What would have happened if you'd made the wrong choice?
6. Remember your favourite fairy tale. Put yourself in the position of the villain. What drives you?
7. Think about the more prudish person you know. Now sit him/her next to somebody behaving inappropriately in a doctor's waiting room.
8. Imagine you're been jailed for a crime you didn't do. Write a letter to your mum.
9. Imagine you're a member of another gender for a day. How would you spend your time?
10. Think of a wish. Now imagine the granting of the wish has unexpected consequences.
11. Recall the best present you ever received. Imagine it being given to somebody with different interests. How does he/she react on opening the present?

13. Think of your favourite scene from a book. Rewrite it from somebody else's perspective.
14. You find a letter from your grandmother that was never sent. Why not?
15. Remember the last day you had outside in the sun. What would have happened if it had suddenly started to snow?
16. You're heading up new charity. What do you call yourself and why?
17. Next time you have a dream, write it down. Write a story continuing the dream.
18. Imagine you can travel back in time to give yourself one piece of advice. What would it be?
19. Think of somebody younger than you - a brother, sister or friend. Imagine he/she wants to become your superhero sidekick. How would he/her try to impress you?
20. You find a hard-boiled egg by the side of the road. How did it get there?
