I hit the ground running.
"Iris!" My mom shouts after me, I don't know if she's following me, I'm hoping not, But I don't look back.
I run towards my brother but before I can get to him something pulls me back, well, someone pulls me back. I yank my arm away and sprint forward,
"Stop!" a voice shouts from behind me but I ignore it, then suddenly I fall forward when something forceful hits me, and I feel
A pain at the back of my head, black spots form around the edges of my vision and I fight it and try to stand up, I have to save him, but before I can step forward the blackness consumes me and I have no choice but to give in.

"We aren't leaving her! For the last time, derek, the more people we have the better" I wake hearing a strong, irritated voice that is somehow kind at the same time
"We need to travel light! We don't need anyone else, if we leave her-" I hear another voice, sounding a bit less kind. I can barely hear their muffled voices over the ringing in my ears.
"Dude you're being a complete jerk right now you know that right? We don't have time for this" I hear the first voice responds again
"Well then lets just drop her off outside and get on with this!" The meaner voice says and then they both go silent as I hear someone else enter the room
"Would you both stop arguing like 6 year Olds and put your lazy Butts to good use" this is a female voice. She knows how to get to work..I like her. I finally get the strength to open my eyes and sit up a bit but then fall back down hard, letting out a slight groan. I hear someone walk over and I sit up more to look at him. He has short dirty blonde hair and has a good build, but I didn't like the way he approached me.
"hello, darling, you've decided to finally wake up. Youve been wasting our time, which wr dont have much of,I'm derek." He says it like I was begging to meet him. Quite snotty if you ask me.
"be nice" the girl walks up and punches him lightly on the shoulder, she has bright red hair and a light freckled face. She's a smaller girl but looks strong and bold.
"I'm Jaelyn. And ignore him. You haven't wasted our time" she says and holds out her hand. I take it and stand up. I get a chance to look around now, it looks like some sort of a safe house, colorless. Almost completely empty aside from a few beds and bags thrown to the side, it looks like it could hold many people,although we are the only people here. my gaze leads to the last boy. I heard him earlier, he sounded kind but looks as if he wants nothing to do with me....wasn't he the one who talked nicely of me?
"Nixon." He says and nods a little, he has messy, carmel hair that shags down near his eyes, he's a bit taller then me, but not as tall as derek. He has a good build as well, and I had to admit he was one most people I know would consider quite the looker. My eyes drift to his. Our gaze meets and for a moment we are just looking into eachother eyes. He has eyes that almost appear purple, I've never met anyone else with eyes like mine, I guess purple isn't the most common color.
He clears his throat and breaks the silent stare when he looks up for anyone moment
"You are?" He asks
"Iris" I respond. And then it all comes flooding back to me
"Wait...." I say quietly and glance st all three of them and suddenly feel a rush if anger and stand up straighter
"What the heck did ya'll do to me?" I ask almost shouting
"What do you mean..." Jaelyn starts but then trails off when derek inrurrupts her
"I told you she would kill us. But you can blame Nixon over here" he laughs a little
"I did nothing wrong" Nixon says and looks up at me
"It was you, wasn't it? Where's my brother? What did you do!" He looks offended but I don't care how he feels, if it weren't for him, I would be with kaden, my brother, right now!
"Woah, I saved your life! You should be thanking me" he says and I raise my eyebrows
"Oh well bless your kind soul, you were so generous for nearly killing me and keeping me from saving my brother!" I spit out sarcastically and frustrated
"Are you serious? Look- I don't know who you think you are but there was no way you could have gotten to him, you would've died" I stare at him and tilt my head a bit
"Then you should've watched me" I say and he stares back
"Well next time I will know better then" he responds after a moment. There's a long period of silence until derek clears his throat
"Alright well since I'm the only one who is against you staying with us, I guess I will just have to go along with it" he says
"It'll be good der." Jaelyn says to derek. I guess she has a nickname for him
"Trust me. The more help we have the better" she finishes
"I wont fight it. But-" I inturrupt him
"I never said I was going with you" I say and they all go quiet for a moment, I guess they never thought of that.
"Come on, we could use the help.." Nixon speaks up, although he still doesn't sound very pleased with me
"Mmhm...sure you do" I respond and he looks unsure as to if he should get me to stay or let me leave
"If you leave out there on your own......you are going to die.." He says
"I thought you said you'd watch me the next time I walk into sure death" I look at him and he bites his lip and nods slightly, unable to say anything. And with that, I give a slight wave and head for the door.
