The copious consequences

"Hey, are you alright? Do you look shaken? You did not realise when I entered," Dara tried to smile but she could not get rid of that sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. Kelvin could get angry one day and kick them out, she would have nowhere to go.

"Hey, Dara! Are you alright? Did something happen?" he touched her shoulder and she shook it off quickly. She could not let him touch her, it would be better to not have any feelings for him when he eventually did it. How would she handle losing her heart in this bargain? 'You already lost your heart' something whispered to her making her shake her head abruptly worrying Kelvin who was watching her with curiosity.

"Darasimi talks to me, please, what's wrong?" he asked again, this time, he turned her to him and placed his hands on her shoulder. "Your mother came by today," he frowned and widened in realisation. He frowned, "what did she say? Did she scare you? You look frightened!"

"I am fine I am fine," she assured him, turning away from him, "it's just that everything right now is very chaotic, and I know we said we would not panic but more and more it seems like everything is going to come crashing down on me. I hate that, I am not sure of what to do honestly."

He placed a hand on her shoulder, "you need to calm down Dara, mommy is just saying her own. Whatever she said should not even bother you at all. I know you handled her like a champ so we are not going to see a lot of her anymore."

Dara scoffed, "I will not say she handled her like a champ Kelvin. It is like I infuriated her and she sees me as this challenge she wants to take on. If she does, I could lose Layo, we are trying to get her off Layo and that's the case but it seems like she determines now more than ever."

"Don't think about her Dara, you know that I would not allow something like that to happen right? We are in this fight together," he took her hands lovingly and hugged her tightly. She rested her head on his chest feeling happy. She needed that reassurance more than she let on. Everything depended on Kelvin's support, she did not know what she would do without him.

"Thank you so much, Kelvin, I don't know what I would have done without you." he nodded rubbing her head, to wipe the frown off her face.

"We are married remember, and you have to know that we are in this together no matter what. I will not let my mom come near you again." he leaned in to kiss her but she moved away from his embrace, he sighed a little disappointed but that was not going to deter him.

He was going to fight for his love and he would prove to her that he was right for her. He adjusted his pants, feeling sheepish, he should not be thinking about anything sexual knowing she was not comfortable with him again after Kelson but he could not help it.

"I even forgot to ask you, how was your meeting?" he frowned rubbing the back of his head, "I don't know. I am not sure. He seems different from the last time we spoke as if he was not convinced about the deal even though he had shown interest but now it seems like he was just hearing and not listening to me."

"Do you think your mom..." Kelvin shook her head, "what no, my mom would not ruin my carrier just for her selfish purpose, she loves me," Kelvin said but in his head, he had to think about it. Dara blinked and looked away, she was not going to say anymore, "I am sorry that I even suggested her. I overthought it." she apologised and walked toward the living room sitting down.

He followed her with a plate of fruit in his hands, "I am going to school tomorrow, you want to come?" she nodded. "I will just prepare this evening, plus we have to go and see the LA and our project supervisor." He nodded making a mental more of what she said.

"Hey guys," Luis smiled at the both of them, sitting next to Dara, in the cafeteria the next day, they had finished their lectures and they were waiting for Dele and Nifemi to come to meet them. Dara nodded and shove a spoon of ice cream that Kelvin had gotten for her since she had refused food.
