"I know that it's been a minute, I hope your heart finish healing."HERBERT "HUE" WRIGHT.
"You don't think 30 years for a murder you didn't commit is enough to turn a sane man to a killer?" Hue was asked by one of the teens that he mentored.
"It don't matter what I think. It could and it couldn't. Some people give up that fight and others get out with a hardened heart and a point to prove." Hue responds.
"Which one would you be?" Another one of the teens asked. One thing about Hue, he was always honest with them. Spoke to them with the same respect that he'd expect in return, like they're human and adults.
"Back then? I would've been the one with a hardened heart and a point to prove. It's still be the same to this day. Put me in there for a crime that I did commit." He spoke, honestly. It was an ignorant thought but with a murder charge? Your life was already determined for you. He looked down at his watch and decided he'd wrap this up so that he could go see his baby then hit the studio.
"Don't forget we got a trip on Friday. I need those papers, gang." They all let him know that they understood then he was out of there. He shot Rylie a text letting her know that he was stopping by to see Kunahi.
Rylie annoyed the fuck out of Hue but she was still the mother of his child and he didn't let anyone play with her. He knew he was in love with Amir when he let her hit Rylie without consequences. It shocked the hell out of him but he always had a soft spot for Amir. He still has one.
He pulled up to Rylie's house and went to knock but before he could even knock, the door swung open. Rylie had on her 'fuck me' shorts and Hue knew she was on her bullshit.
He walked passed her without speaking. "Herbert. Don't play with me. You don't walk in people house without—"
"Where's my child, Rylie?" Hue said in a tone to let her know that he wasn't in the mood to play with her.
She followed her arms over her chest and stared at him. He sighed, deeply. "Good afternoon, how are you? Where the fu—"
"Daddy!!" He heard Kunahi scream. It scared him. It was so loud. She was now 8 years old and the biggest daddy's girl. She had Hue wrapped around her finger. Anything she said was a go. Spoiled rotten all thanks to her daddy. He scooped her up in his arms.
"Wassssup?" He kissed the side of her head. Something he always did when he seen her. It was like second nature. He never missed it.
"Mama said I can't go play with Brielle." She immediately started snitching. It never failed. Hue laughed because he was waiting on it. Everytime Rylie said no, she'd come to him like he was both of their dad. She was a snitch.
"Why she can't go to Brielle house?" Hue asked.
"Don't do that. I'm her mother and I told her no. I don't need to explain to you why."
Hue smirked at Rylie knowing that she wasn't in the mood but he was in the mood to piss her off.
"You wanna go to Brielle house?" He asked his daughter as she looked at him with her sparkling brown eyes. She nodded her head.
"Oh daddy please. I just never get to play with my friends anymore and it just makes me so sad." Kunahi responded in the most dramatic tone making Rylie kiss her teeth.
"Go get your stuff and I'll talk to mama." He told her before putting her back on the floor. She skipped away, knowing that she was going to be playing at Brielle house soon.
"Why do you do that?" Rylie asked him. Her feelings genuinely hurt.
"What do I do?"
"You constantly make me look like the villain. Every time I say no. Here comes daddy to make it better. And don't question me in front of my child about a decision I make, ever. She'll feel like she can question me."
"I'm not trying to make you look like the villain, Ry. If you say no then okay. I'm sorry." Hue wasn't really sorry but he didn't feel like hearing her mouth.
She knew that he wasn't taking her serious. "Go to hell." She mumbled and pushed him out her way. He chuckled. "Where's your girlfriend?"
"Aspen." He said, simply.
"Did you pay for the trip?" She asked, smirking.
"If I did?"
She threw her hands up in defense. "Well shit. Let me mind my business."
"That's yo safest route." And he was serious. Kunahi came back downstairs with her stuff and a grin on her face. "Look baby girl. When your mom says no, you can't come and ask me, alright? What she says goes."
She poked her bottom lip out. "But why not?"
"Cause he said so. You're not grown. Stop questioning grown people when they tell you something." Rylie butted in. 'This why she think you the villain. Always muttin shit.' Hue thought to himself.
She stomped away from him to the door. "Kunahi you got something you wanna say?" Hue asked and she immediately straightened up.
"You want me to crack you on your—"
"Rylie.."
She shook her head quickly and wipe the petty tears that had fallen, hoping that Hue would change his mind. He was going to convince Rylie but now he wasn't. "I'm sorry mommy." This girl was a mastermind manipulator. Watch this.
"I'm sorry too." Rylie said kneeling down. "Look, you can go play at Brielle's house but next time I say no, the answer it's no, Kunahi and I mean it." No she doesn't.
"Yessss! Thank you mommy!" She threw her arms around Rylie making her laugh.
"You're soft." Hue said.
Hue received a call from Ouni as soon as he started up his car. He ignored her but she called back. He smacked his lips and answered the call. "Yo."
"I don't know why every time I call this phone you got an attitude like I'm bothering you." She rolled her eyes as if he could see. "Hurry and get to the studio. Somebody here for you."
"Wh—"
She hung up before he could respond. Hue doesn't play like that. He called her back before texting her that he had his daughter and wasn't going to the studio anymore. 'Type of set up ass shit she on' Hue thought to himself while heading home to spend the night with his baby. He didn't like Ouni before and he still don't like her now. Something 'bout her never sat right with his spirit.
