I do not own Harry Potter or any other books/series/movies that are mentioned in this story. All characters belong to J.K.Rowling, except the ones that I created. I also use the timeline of the books as a reference, I play around with small events and change their order so the story can run smoothly. Of course, the big events will happen like they did in the books and movies.
English is not my mother tongue, so please excuse my mistakes if you find some. Have fun reading it!

When Danielle, my best friend, suggested that I should read "Harry Potter" back in the day, I didn't know if I would really like these books. But when I read the first book of the series, I could dive into my own small world, my own small world in Hogwarts and forget everything around me: my foster parents and my classmates who teased my because of my background, the orphanage.

My foster parents, with whom I have lived for as long as I can remember, tried to take care of me as best as they could. They were just a bit clumsy and still overwhelmed most of the time, yet they tried to make everything as good as possible. I was thankful for them giving the fact that I could have ended up in a home or been sent to a not so harmonious and loving little family.

I looked out of my window, which was partly overgrown with vines like the rest of our house. Thick and grey clouds were making their way towards our little neighborhood, signalling an early-summer thunderstorm would come tonight. I snuggled up in my blanket and kept reading "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".

"Cassie? Could you please take out the garbage?" I heard my foster mother Elise call out. I sighed and put  my book away and got up from my cozy little bench by the window to go down the stairs to the kitchen. When I lifted up the trash, Elise smiled at me and said: "Dad will come home a little late today, because he has to work longer. Would you please help me with the dinner later? I'll be making your favorite food: Pasta and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. If you want you can help me making these."

I nodded and smiled. Elise usually likes to cook together, but she makes a big secret about her chocolate chip cookies. Even Simon, my foster father didn't know the recipe. I grabbed the trash and made my way to the trash cans outside. As I stopped in front of our garden, I saw our old neighbor across the street, Amanda Slughorn, a grouchy woman who always walked the streets at 5 p.m. She usually doesn't talk a lot but when she's starting a conversation it usually turns out to be a confusing chat about her being lucky as hell to have quite a normal life. I didn't ask to this day what her description of not normal life would be. Maybe I should do that one day.

I waved to Amanda Slughorn, but she only looked at me with a strange look. Ever since the day Elise jokingly told her that I made her favorite cup disappear six years ago, Amanda Slughorn would look at me with this look. Well, I didn't make the cup disappear, the cup stood on the table and while Elise was outside the room the cup disappeared within a second and it was just gone. Later that day we found that cup back on the table like nothing had happened altough I was sure I hadn't take it away to make fun of Elise.

I shook my head and threw the trash into the container and went back inside to help Elise cooking. We talked a lot about school, her work as a historian and about flowers, we liked a lot. Her favorite flowers were roses, but mine were the starflowers. "The starflower is totally unknown, isn't it?" Elise asked." It's small and unassuming and appeares a lot in forest but nobody really notice them so yeah, they are kind of unknown, but nevertheless they're so beautiful."

When the pasta was ready, Elise and I sat on the couch to talk and wait for Simon. As soon as we heard someone opening the door, Elise stood up immediately and welcomed Simon, her husband, with a small kiss and a hug. "And? How was your school day?" Simon asked me, while he took off his jacket and went to the living room. "Well, it went pretty good. I decided to take history and literature for my main subjects."

Simon looked at me with a wide grin "history huh? Is it that interesting for you or didn't they offer "hogwarts and witchcraft studies" as an subject?" I laughed and smacked him on the arm while Elise burst into laughers and made her way to the table while I brought our dinner to the table. "Well, if they offered it, I would have been the very first to signed that list." I smirked.
