"But I thought we were- I thought we were friends-"
"Who needs friends when I have this?!" Tord was in a frenzy, his eyes showing the raw insanity bubbling up from where it had been restrained and shoved away, deep in his mind. He had a goal, and he was going to achieve it now; no matter what the cost. "I'm unstoppable!" He laughed at his own power and impulsively fired a rocket in a random direction. He had to admit, it was satisfying seeing things being obliterated by the rocket; watching dirt make way for its absolute strength. Tord was so distracted with himself that he wasn't aware of the happenings around him.
"Tom!" Edd shouted as he ran to the blue hoodie clad man laying in a crater made from one of Tord's askew rockets. He cradled Tom's head in his arms as he sat on the now vegetation-free ground, tears already spilling from his eyes. "Tom! Say something!"
Tom looked up at Edd, his empty voids of eyes duller than ever(if that was possible). He made a last attempt at speaking.
"Something," he managed to cough out. He smiled a tired smile, somewhat amused at his own joke and then went limp in Edd's arms. He seemed to have enjoyed his last hurrah, leaving a small grin on his now deceased face.
Edd had a mortified look on his face. He had just come to a realization that the body he was holding was no longer his friend's, his housemate's, his companion's, but instead an empty shell of a person, a corpse. Tom was gone, and he wasn't coming back.
Meanwhile, Tord was about to fly away in his newfound superweapon. Edd gently set down Tom--or--what used to be Tom on the scorched earth, then sped towards the small control panel that had somehow survived the explosions. Tord was going to get what he deserved.
