Chapter 2

"Well, what happened to you?" I spun around on my heels and saw my older brother, Noah, trying his hardest not to laugh.

"Oh, wipe that smirk off your face," I muttered. Once my back was to him, he started laughing hysterically with his friends. I suppose Noah was someone you could call "popular." In fact, he was someone who couldn't go out without seeing a friend. Not that he would ever want to be seen in public with me. I heard once that he denied that I was his little sister. When I had first entered high school, I was immediately known as "Noah's little sister." His social status passed down to me as soon as I stepped in the building. My schedule was packed with events with my friends, and everbody knew me. I furiously stomped into the bathroom while the slimy yolk slid down my hair.

"They did it again?" I rapidly turned my head around and to my relief, it was my best friend.

"Evelyn!" I cried. She eyed my hair and a look of rage passed her face.

"Those little...," she muttered to herself. Evelyn stormed over to the sink and motioned to follow. I bit my lip and helplessly dragged my feet over.

"What do you expect? That they'll suddenly leave me alone?" I sighed and leaned my head over like I had done this with Evelyn so many times before. Like an expert, she combed her fingers through my hair running under the sink until the raw egg was all washed out.

Glancing at me, Evelyn smiled and handed me a towel from her backpack. "You would think that a teacher would do something about this...," she muttered. I closed my eyes in frustration and shook my head furiously.

"What are they gonna do? Add another year to their already-long-enough detentions? Besides, their parents totally pay the teachers to get them out," I gushed. Rolling her eyes, Evelyn smacked the back of my head lightly. "Ow!" I yelped.

Before I could complain more, she interrupted me. "Tsk tsk, hypocrite much?  You go off about how they gossip so much, and here you are, being just like them!" she scolded me, referring to the popular girls.

"Well... I was one of them," I reminded her with a shrug. I didn't even have to look at her to know she was rolling her eyes at me, clearly thinking I was an idiot. I looked up at my reflection staring back at me and I couldn't help but wonder why. Why I was suddenly kicked from the top and hated more than anybody had been hated before. I wondered why I of all people was being egged and gossiped about. I wondered why Jenavieve had come and done this to me.

Jenavieve was the nastiest girl I had ever met. Merely months before she had ruined my life, I was surrounded by the rest of the girls with rich parents and a social life anyone would die for. Everybody knew my name, and I had absolutely no problem with it. The thing I absolutely missed the most was my boyfriend. Alex knew how to treat me, and needless to say, was gorgeous. We had grown up together in the same neighborhood, and I loved him with everything I had. Faster than I could blink, my life was ruined in an instant. Jenavieve pranced in knowing all the right moves to get her on top, and I was just a roadblock in her way. Somehow, she had managed to convince my friends of a fight between us that never happened, and after she puckered up a few tears, I was seen as a traitor. As much as I wish that was the end of it, she continued spreading ridiculous rumors about me that my friends would have never believed if she hadn't brainwashed them with her ways. I became a toy to her, someone she could take her anger out on.

The guys would pelt me with eggs at school, and eventually everyone, and I mean everyone, got the hint that I was a "disgusting whore nobody liked." The normal targets the popular kids would usually bully even looked at me like I was a piece of dirt. Just like that, Jenavieve had managed to make my life a living hell.
