Chapter 4 run

It's already two years ago since we ran. Although I went with them as an adventure, it wasn't my job to lead them. I let them do what they wanted to do and sometimes stopped them when I had to. They were so naïve.

It was night, we heard a carriage with two horses. A man appeared and looked at the wooden box which was in the middle of the road. He spotted the blood on the corner of the box.

"Damn it Kol!" I whispered to him "you should've cleaned that up, haven't you learned?!"

"Bloody hell can you be any more pathetic? I'll handle this" Kol answered and he jumped out of the bushes, grabbed the guy and fed on him till he was dead. After that we all got out of our hiding places.

"Kol, are you quite done?" Elijah asked while throwing a few sticks away.

Kol stopped with his snack. "Why bother Elijah, is all this truly necessary?" I rolled my eyes.

"Brother, the road is a major thoroughfare if the bodies are found word of our presence will spread to Mikeal," Elijah answered.

"We have run through autumn and winter through sleet and snow, are we cursed to forever live in fear of our father?" Rebekah joined the conversation.

"I should say yes sadly."

"Finn please! God damn" I shushed to him. Elijah turned around "Niklaus." Niklaus turned his head to Elijah.

Rebekah couldn't hold it. "Do we have any idea where we're running to next?!"

"You can ask your siblings but don't ask me cause I've just been following," I say while I turn around with my hands on my back.

"Why not just do what we've all thought of doing, split up." I look at Kol with a smile, but when I see Niklaus' face my smile dissapears. Kol has such good ideas sometimes but because of this vo-

"We swore a vow," Niklaus comes in. That's what I meant.

"Your vows haunt me more than father himself," Kol argues. "At least he can't chase us all. I say we take our chances."

"Perhaps Kol is right," Finn breaks the short silence.

"Thank you Finn! You know I've always said, eldest is the most intelligent"

"Hello Kol I wasn't speaking you know?" I tell him annoyed.

"Stop talking," Niklaus shouted to Kol and me. But Finn continued.

"I take no joy in our ascent but I do wish to sleep in a bed, to bathe in a bath, to feed of proper food if we divide-"

"No brother." Elijah interrupted him. I may not like Finn for hating on what we are but he had a point.

"Niklaus is right we made a vow, family above all." He turned to Niklaus. "Always and forever."

We all stood there watching them. Didn't know what to say.

"Alright then, if always and forever is such a popular sentence then there must be something special to it." I smile to them. "What are we waiting for? Let's get this show on the road!"

And I was glad to see Kol smile. Even after this tragic conversation.

We may have ended the conversation from a few weeks ago like a party but let's be honest, nothing really changed. Sometimes we do joke around or bring back some memories but that's just it.

We stopped a carriage with a few people. They were pretty rich I think, it's not like I know a lot about fashion.

"He's ready for the next course," Kol smiled and tapped Niklaus on his shoulder.

"You're all filthy gluttons," Finn answered.

"And you remain over the dullard."

I smirked, what an asshole. I looked over to Rebekah who was admiring the clothes of the dead snacks.

"Such pretty clothes," she speaks. I walk over to her. "What a shame they'll go to waste!" I smile at her.

"Rebekah we have discussed this," Elijah responds for no literal reason. I want to defend Rebekah but she takes care of it.

"No, you discussed this! None of us had any say in this matter. We.. could live as they do at least for a time!"

They are all looking at Rebekah while Niklaus and Kol are checking me out.

'Why are you looking at me, I actually agree with Rebekah. In the 20 centuries I've already spent I never had this chance, we should take it." I try to stay serious and calm. "Continue Bex."

Rebekah nods and smiles at me. "Think of it Elijah," she turns back to him "We could hide in plain sight, we can live ordinary life-"

"Silence."

Rebekah can't even finish her sentence, because Elijah is distracted. He looks at me and I hear it too, a heartbeat.

He walks over to the carriage and pulls a blanket that's laying in it. Out of fear a man jumps out of the carriage. He has brown long hair with some red clothes. He is scared, very scared.

"Well, well what do we have here, another snack?" I smile dangerous at him.

He tries to run but Rebekah blocks the way. "Well, aren't you a handsome one!"

"He looks like dessert to me," Kol stands next to her.

"No, wait wait wait!" The stranger stutters "I can help you."

We all look at him as if he's crazy.

"I am.. I am the personal servant to the Count de Martel of the very state you just mentioned"

Silence... "The WHO NOW?!" I shout while I walk over to him with my eyes turning yellow.

He backs off when he sees my eyes and become even more scared. Just how I like it. "I was sent to escort these guests to his home for a lengthy stay." The guy says while he keeps turning his head to talk to all of us "I know their customs as well as the counts habit... If you mean to pose as the family you have sorted here then you'll need my help to carry out your ruse." Poor boy calms down.

I clap in my hands while looking at my 'siblings'. "Can we vote," I raise my hand happily.

"Please we keep him."

"Rebekah no!" Elijah disagrees strict "what is our most important rule."

Bex rolls her eyes "never leave alive someone who has seen-"

"What we are." We finish all together.

"THANK YOU very much, a practice that has served us very well indeed."

"She has a point!" Finn stops Elijah "you may be of use."

"AH proper family squabble!"

"Do I also still have a say or am I just standing here to frighten this little animal?" I tell them while I pat his head. I love the scared look on his face looking at me like I'm a huge spider who is about to eat him.

"Perhaps we should put it to a vote," Niklaus suggests "all those in favor of letting him live?"

Rebekah and Finn raise their hand. I'm doubting but not voting yet, waiting for the others.

"Those inclined to gut him" Kol and Elijah raise their hand.

"Well it's up to us Nikkie" I smirk at Niklaus. But he doesn't pay attention to me. He walks up to me and the stranger.
